None of them could match Timothy McVeigh.

Actually the USA is #6, if you compare apples to apples. A lot of European countries on the list. Still not a good think, but more realistic.

If you leave a few certain metropolitan area's out of the US, I can promise you this......I would much rather go to any place in the US than most of the other shit hole countries around this world that claim to be so much better. I personally think it is time to make a national concealed carry permit and allow more people that are trained to carry do so legally, everywhere. I have no problems making people get training, you need to train and the police can't be everywhere. I have no problems with a background check. It would certainly clarify all the complications about where permits are honored between states. :twocents:

Wow... ^ we agree on something - I better go write this down

The cat is long since out of the bag
What we need is a reasonable focused solution to dealing with where we are TODAY
Not trying to go back 225 years and re-write something

Conceal Permits
W/ Training just like getting a drivers license

Meaninless stat if its total and not per capita. The US has a higher population than about 98.8% of other countries in the world. (#3 of 257 according to wiki..)

"Mass shootings are defined for the study as having four or more victims and don't include gang killings or slayings that involve the death of multiple family members;"

Yeah, let's not talk about the murders in the inner cities...they are excluded from the definition of a mass killing. Let's just focus on those nut jobs in the suburbs. :dunce:

We just avoided mass bloodshed on a French train...but we'll go on pretending that stuff doesn't happen elsewhere.

I think what we probably have here is selectively defining "mass shootings" so as to maximize the chances of the United States coming out high on the list. The United States is somewhere in the middle of the pack in terms of intentional homicide rate about about 5 per 100,000 poplulation (http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/VC.IHR.PSRC.P5" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). There are more than 20 countries that have rates above 20 per 100,000; topped off by Honduras with a rate of 90 intentional homicides per 100,000 population. It's pretty difficult to believe that the US is #1 in "mass shootings" if "mass shootings" is defined in any reasonable and objective way.
