Just 'cause the attendees want to be self-reliant in nature or whatever, it doesn't mean the staff assigned to oversee it should live like paupers. Other than the washer/dryer, the things listed are basic things you'd find in any break room around the nation. I don't see it as outlandish (especially air conditioning and toilets).

Gerlach is 10 miles away. There are hotels, showers, laundry, etc there. If the BLM agents REQUIRE Chobani frozen yogurt, Choco-Tacos and specialty ice creams to survive, they can run to REI, pick up a $300 12 volt Coleman freezer and throw it in the back of one of their trucks. BLM is just acting like a clique of demanding bratty princesses.
I've met a few of the guys who've worked security at Burning Man, and they're not pussies...they'd be fine with bottled water, trail mix and an occasional burger. These "amenities" are being sought to pacify wannabe "dignitaries".

Put all the required amenities for "public servants" about two miles away from the main party and fence their area off from the main party.

I read CID's article and the BLM's take seems ridiculous as do the fees they're charging. It's not as if they domt have the resources to set up they're own camp for the weekend.
It would be nice to see the breakdown of the associated costs to monitoring the event.

This is one time when we're in agreement.
I'm not a Burning Man fan, but if "alternative lifestyle" folks want to spend a week in the desert each year, running around naked, singing, taking drugs, screwing like Minx, discussing nonsense while covered in green jello and marshmallow cream...

Not my thing, but the BLM isn't justified using the permitting process to extort "concessions" from lawful citizens.
At the end of the week, send in a cleaning crew and bill the organizers.
