SCOTUS: Gay Marriage Legal in all 50 states

The Supreme Court has declared that same-sex couples have a right to marry anywhere in the United States.
Gay and lesbian couples already can marry in 36 states and the District of Columbia. The court's ruling on Friday means the remaining 14 states, in the South and Midwest, will have to stop enforcing their bans on same-sex marriage.

John Roberts gets another one wrong (yeah, I know he voted with the minority).

I'd be curious to read this opinion as to what legal standing the minority opinion said would deny this.

I would imagine their position isn't to deny but rather that it is not a "right" in the constitution and should be left to the political process as opposed to a court ruling. But that is just a guess.

I'm happy for Jon. Celebrate!
When dback turned me on this issue over at AGS. He said this was about equal rights not religious beliefs. The Catholic Church doesn't recognize my brothers marriage. So why should Jon's be any different?
I pray that this will be the end of this issue. But I fear the next round will be for MY church to marry LGBT.

Precisely what Roberts and Scalia said in dissent.
Roberts also questioned how, in light of the Court's holding that there is a substantive due process right to marry in accordance with one's preference, state laws prohibiting bigamy are constitutional. He does have a point there.

I've been saying for a long time this court isn't a conservative court- really only 3 conservative justices. Last 2 days just proved my point..

Well Joe, looks like your priests will be allowed to marry each other. At the rate your pope is finally enforcing secular humanist principles on his idiots, won't be long till the church allows this.
Boys aged 1-13 will be elated. Handicapped ones too.

You're a coward for not leaving that moral shithole of a religion.
Praying that your religion becomes moral?

There are two, and only two, kinds of people that are upset about this...
1) Those that are gay, but are afraid to admit it (closet gays)
2) Those that fear they might be gay, but aren't sure how to go about finding out
And I guess there is a 3rd, being you're an outright douche who hates happiness among people that are different than you

I'm just thankful we'll see an end to the incessant, "XXXXXX Approves Same Sex Marriage" threads.
BTW, Dback, have you two signed up for any registries yet?

Congratulations faggots!
CNN just had some faggots on live and had to cut to commercial when one shouted, with a lisp, "IT'S ABOUT FUCKING TIME!"
But yes, hopefully they will all just shut the fuck up now. They have the same rights as everyone else. We all get discriminated against by sombody in this country. Welcome to the club.

At least I have courage and am not willing to be part of something that openly discriminates and dehumanizes someone I love.

The legal rights are now there, but the social battle against homophobia is still present. Ya know, like trying to get people to stop using the word "faggot" and "gay" in bad connotations.

As you can imagine, very, very happy.
Tears of Joy.
I woke Alex up and we watched President Obama's speech. Alex started bawling - and asked me "Does this mean I am not a second class citizen anymore?"

You and Alex are second class citizens and way worse in eyes of just about every religion, including American Patriotism.
Until secular humanism prevails, you're fucked.
