For all those looking for a new flag to honor those who died in the Civil War.... I found one

That flag offends a whole bunch of people too. How long until that one comes down as well?

Next time another left wing anti gunner kills a church full of people and has that flag on his Facebook page Congress will look into getting rid of American flags at all schools and state buildings.

Regardless of the outcome of the Revolution, it's still a flag of traitors. Washington and Co. were committing high treason.

Sometimes, treason is a good thing. Like those 20+ Germans that committed treason by trying to kill Hitler. Many of them were German military and/or politicians.

Hell, I even agree with the premise that it shouldn't be cleansed or sanitized form history or if people want to wave it...go ahead. Not a problem with it at all. Just don't get the over reacting that a lot of people that don't have fucking shit to do with this having all the big opinions and dramatics on the matter.

It's those state's issues. I'll let them decide if they want to be tied to the vast array of dipshits that fly it and co-opt the history for their own purposes.

The flag doesn't offend me at all. I know when I see it that I'm probably gonna get a certain sort of entitled white guy to show his ass soon enough. It doesn't happen sometimes but usually it does. I can see some wanting to get away from that sort of crowd.

I've seen as many right wing guys from SC as I've seen left wing stating very eloquently why they think it should be removed from a state building...not anywhere else...their state's building.

I remember a few years ago when someone at UM had a confederate flag in their dorm room. I was of the opinion that the guy had every right to fly his flag just as others could fly theirs. There was a lot of debate over that one if I remember right.

This and that are not the same thing but everyone just likes to put it all together as if it is. In a case like that I think the guy being discriminated against should sue the school and make some noise.

It's not about the flag. Why is that so difficult for some to understand. I mean, sure, it's about THIS flag, RIGHT now....but this is much bigger than the confederate flag. And I fail to see why asking a simple question is "having ...big opinions and dramatics....". I asked a simple question.

How many stars and strikes flags would you see hanging around if the Brits had won the Revolutionary War?

This flag, right now isn't part of the overall thing because it's about the people it affects and what they are deciding to do because a critical mass of jerk offs taking what their flag meant to them and using as some other statement.

This is about the people it affects trying to come to grips with what they want to do and outsiders telling them what they ought to be doing because of how they peel their political banana. That's what is ridiculous to me.

Yep. I've said it in other threads (and even earlier in this thread) but it bears repeating: This is another step down a very slippery slope where "things", whether those things are flags, statues, memorials, naming conventions, certain books, certain words, etc., etc., are changed/cleansed/eliminated to appease a vocal minority...precedent continues to be set, and it's not a good precedent.
