Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is officially running for president.

I think he screwed his chances of having a shot when he face planted his opportunity to give the Republican response to an Obama speech. But I also would be he has the highest IQ of any candidate we've heard on on either side.
He's an ethnic Indian; meaning he is from an ethnicity with a high IQ distribution. And if there was any doubt that he's really, really smart all one needs to do is note that he was accepted to both Harvard Medical School and Yale Law school but opted for neither so he could go be a Rhodes Scholar. I doubt that there are a whole lot of people who have been accepted to both Medical and Law school at about the same time regardless of which schools they were but this guy got accepted to one of the most highly selective Medical schools and one of the most highly selective Law schools. Talk about a jack of all trades. And he didn't get preferential treatment either. Though he's a member of an ethnic minority it's not an "under represented" minority so he had to fully earn those acceptance letters.

I was going to comment how Rick Perry may no longer be the dumbest candidate in the race.
You put too much faith in Ivy League educations and IQ, John.

The same Ivy League education that was used by many to prove why Obama was so smart?

It's not Ivy league education. I frankly suspect Ivy League education isn't all that great. What I am impressed by is somebody who is not a member of an "under represented minority" getting
accepted by an Ivy League school. That's because they are extremely selective and they can afford to be because there is so much competition to get into them. You can pretty much reasonably assume that if someone who is not a member of an "under represented minority" gets into an Ivy League school they are in the top 1 percent of the intelligence distribution.
Now, do I think that they'll be any better educated once they get there than they would be at some State school? I don't know but I suspect not. And I certainly don't assume it.

Obama qualifies as a member of an "under represented minority." That means that you had to bet you'd bet he'd have never gotten into an Ivy League school if he hadn't had that status. Of course you don't know. But if you know nothing else you'd have to bet that way if you want to win the bet. The reason is that it's pretty clear that the majority of "Black" students in schools like that would not have been admitted if they hadn't been Black. And I think it's probably something like 75%. I'd say that if you were to randomly select a Black person who has been admitted to an Ivy League school the odds before you select that you will get somebody who would not have been admitted if they had not been Black are about 3:1.
You're still going to be dealing with smart people. But the reasonable assumption you make when you're dealing with a member of an "under represented authority" who got into an Ivy League school is not the same as the one you make when you're dealing with someone who does not have that status.

Obama is smarter. He got elected twice and didn't stink up the airwaves when
he spoke at the Democratic primary. Jindal is a loser with zero chance.

People with Ivy League educations started the war in Iraq, sunk the world wide economy, think public schools should be teaching creation theory, and believe there are entire metropolises in England that are Muslim only.
Yeah... They is real smart.

Jindal is a non-starter. Just a number to add to the list of candidates running, but he has no chance to get past Bush, Rubio, or Walker.
