Interviewing candidates for a position that we have. One of the candidates has a job at another local company. That company offers benefits including health insurance. One of the questions was about what benefits are most important. The candidate said health insurance because he would be 26 soon and would have to get off his parents' insurance.
I can understand keeping an individual on parents' insurance if they are still in school or don't have a job or have a job without benefits. But you stay on mom and dad's when you have a job with benefits? WTF? And WTF is wrong with parents for letting their kids do that? Maybe they shouldn't be allowed to drive, drink, or vote until they are 26 either.

It's a rough and tough world out there for these kids today. Look for a move to up the age to 30 sometime in the future. We can't honestly expect these kids to be ready for the world without mommy and daddy until they get out of their 20's. Where's your empathy????

Obamacare screwed me when it came to my child support orders i have when i lived in Michigan. The advanced credit can only be claimed by those who are living in your household. Neither . One lives with me but i was required by court order to provide health insurance for them, meaning that i would have to pay the full cost for them.

This is probably the first time I have disagreed with you.
1) If it takes waiting for your kid to learn responsibility by getting their own healthcare then you failed as a parent. A kid should know a hell of a lot about responsibility long before graduating HS, let alone entering the work force and getting health coverage.
2) Hate the game not the player. I have no problem with parents keeping their kids on their coverage as a way for allowing their kid to save money and get a better standing in life. This is a financially advantageous decision a family can make, and isn’t that what this whole capitalism thingy is all about?

Totally agree with SD. Why pay for two insurance plans when one covers everyone?
Hell, I have my ex, sister, and parents all on a shared data/cell phone family plan. Along with my 15% federal employee discount, by the time we all divvy it up it's very reasonable for each of us.
