Abortions after 20 weeks into a pregnancy, in most cases, are now illegal in West Virginia. The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act took effect on Tuesday, making the Mountain State one of nearly a dozen states with such a ban.

“I’m proud of our folks here in the state for passing this legislation because I think the people of the state want it,” Dr. Wanda Franz, president of West Virginians for Life, one of the leading supporters of the legislation, said on Wednesday’s MetroNews “Talkline.”

“This is very important legislation and a new step nationally for us in the pro-life movement.”
One step at a time.

20 weeks is usually enough time to tell if there's a birth defect or catastrophic issue
I don't see any problem with this

Even hillbillies get it - banning abortion is stupid for so many reasons its not even worth discussing
But putting logical restrictions in place - logical legislation is fine

Its fascinating how accepting of the concept of "logical legislative intervention" is on one topic
yet completely unacceptable on others - a strange disconnect

I agree with the bans that begin at 20 weeks. If the ever evolving science shows that there is fetal pain and suffering before that then I would probably change my thinking.

But the radical pro-abortion crowd greatly outnumbers the "earth is 6000 years old" crowd on this subject and will fight tooth and nail for abortion to be a woman's choice right up to the point of birth.

And many people go along with their fallacious canard that it is solely a woman's issue - yourself included.

I'm happy with any kind of restrictions, like I said, one step at a time. Science and medicine will continue to shorten the 20 weeks and hopefully one day you will see that setting ANY timeframe after conception is ridiculous when it comes to logic.

Logic and Catholicism haven't collided yet - any predictions on when that's going to happen..?

YOU are the one who wants to bring religion into this. I have NEVER ONCE mentioned religion in regards to abortion. The logic comes when you see the history of a moving target and realize it's still moving. To set any kind of line is folly IMO.

We'll be long dead and this debate will still be around
But trust me - religion is the driving force on this debate regardless of CID666
and the least religious generation in American history is growing up right now
and they don't quite see it your way

I don't disagree that we won't live to see any kind of end to this. Religion is a driving force for many people on this issue, but not for me. As for the next generation... let's wait until they grow up and see how they feel. People change with life experience. Just like many of your cohorts here love to say if men were the ones getting pregnant, their opinion would change... wait until these kids have kids of their own and watch how their opinion changes. 8-)

Not gonna be a good day for you.

Jesus will not like the fact that you not only got involved in, but became a vocal advocate for an abysmal cult that destroyed his name.
