I agree with him. The battle was lost long ago but I've never agreed with the whole "Spanish" thing. I am among those who thinks that the country should have an "official" language and the obvious choice is English. I don't think there should be Spanish language options when you call government offices on the phone. I think that if you live in the United States you should be expected to learn English and shouldn't expect people to speak to you in some other language.

Besides, Spanish is a hideous sounding language. If she was speaking French, great. That's a pretty sounding language. But Spanish is rough and crude sounding. In fact I'm trying to think of something that sounds worse being spoken than Spanish does and so far I can't. German? English? Russian? I'll admit I might have to Youtue it to get samples of more languages but Spanish really does have an ugly sound to it. Verbal diarrhea.

You aren't hearing Spanish if it's hideous sounding. You're probably hearing an accent (like someone from Mexico would have). You listen to an Argentinian or Spanish woman speak and it'll make you harder than a diamond in an ice storm. Gutteral languages, like German, are crude. But even then, they have a beauty to it. You just lack an appreciation.

Accents can be hideous, but I wouldn't say the language.

I almost posted about Cajun. The cajun accent is atrocious. Whenever I hear it, I hear banjos an expect some 4th grade drop out to be struggle figuring out how to give me change for a $1. My cousins from "N'awlins" make me want to kick them in the cooter.
