As Pwns states above, all water has been shit in, pissed in, etc, whether by fish, humans, horses, etc at some point.

that is what water treatment does - cleans the water to make it potable.

I know it's psychologically distressing but it's not that bad. At the extreme you can do the distilled water thing and there's absolutely no doubt that you're clear.

In fact I'd say it's already the case that some proportion of the water everybody routinely drinks was once flushed down somebody's toilet with human body waste in it.
