No Pizza for you!

The war on Jesus!
A small Indiana pizza and ice cream parlor is coming under fire after its owners went on the news and boasted that their establishment would not cater gay or non-Christian functions.

After Crystal and Kevin O’Connor of Memories Pizza appeared on ABC 57 to declare their support for Governor Mike Pence and the controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act yesterday, the backlash was immediate.

“If a gay couple came in and wanted us to provide pizzas for their wedding, we would have to say no,” Crystal said as she stood in the restaurant, which is festooned with Christian paraphernalia.

“We’re not discriminating against anyone, that’s just our belief and anyone has the right to believe in anything,” she added. “I do not think it’s targeting gays. I don’t think it’s discrimination. It’s supposed to help people that have a religious belief.”
Robert S. pointed out the obvious on Yelp, writing that “in all my queer life, I’ve never known a gay to cater their wedding with pizza.”
Good point...

"Indiana and Kentucky..."
I can't say that without laughing to myself a little bit

I think Indiana and Kentucky should proudly do whatever the hell it is they do
God bless 'em and full speed ahead

I think the worst thing that can happen to anti gay business owners is for the religious freedom law to stand so they can out themselves.

I truly don't understand it. How much business would they have to lose before their bigotry ruins them?

I'm sure they'll make up for it with BDKKK and JSO types who will support them simply because they hate them queers, too.

Yup. I remember when they proudly stuffed their faces with processed chicken in support of bigotry!

Each state should be able to "Make their Stand"
I think Indiana and Kentucky should proudly hold their heads high and defy those who don't like it

Proudly be who you are
And let the chips fall where they may
All actions have consequences but that is hardly a concern for those who want true religious freedom

 Indiana and Kentucky... can you say that without giggling just a little: YOU GO..!!! INDIANA..!!!

These types seriously believe that most people think like they do because they don't associate with anybody who thinks different than they do. Which is a bit odd given their zeal for presenting themselves as the persecuted minority among philistines.

Just Pence being Palinized.

This is a faux story.

Next farrier Ralph Summers will be denounced for his refusal to shoe gay quarter horses.

:dunce:

Nah, Pence just thought that they could make some small changes in language in the law, as say when compared to the federal law, and no one would notice. Frankly, he deserves the scorn he's getting because he was 1) dumb to think that no one would notice and 2) it seems very likely that he and the others behind the law really did want to provide legal cover for people who did want to discriminate based on their religious beliefs.

It should cause anyone pause that when their political views mesh almost identically with JSO's views - you really should use that as an alarm that you might be wandering down a slippery slope.

If Indiana really wanted an RFRA bill that would pass muster they easily could've copied the federal one. The changes they made are too clear in what their real intentions were. There's no law against being a bigot, but there's going to be pushback when you try to give legal allowance to be a bigot in public dealings.

It's refreshing to see you take a stand in favor of States' Rights.

Considering he refuses pizza with fruit or seafood on it, I'm guessing he's hiding something. So yes.

The only time I am against states rights
is when the state in question is behaving in a manner counter to The Constitution
otherwise I don't recall being against states rights

Thanks for noticing

We should top the $25,000 mark soon on GoFundMe to help the pizza place survive this faux shit storm by the Nazis who want to drive them out of business...

Like the Elkhart teacher who tweeted "Who is with me to burn that place down?"...unemployment and/or jail will soon be in her future...she took the tweet down, but not before people forwarded to the local police...
