A gun owner triggered a brief lockdown last week while demonstrating his open carry rights outside a Michigan high school.
Police spotted the man, who they recognized from previous encounters, walking about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday near Lamphere High School in Madison Heights.
Officers called administrators when the man approached school property, and they locked down the school for nearly an hour.
Police said they received “about a million calls” about the man, who lives near the school and was carrying a rifle and holstered pistol.
“We had a citizen exercise his right to open carry, and he chose to exercise that right near the high school,” said Officer Carey Spangler.
“We’ve dealt with this individual in the past,” Spangler added. “We know of him to exercise his right to open carry.”
Police did not identify the man, who was not arrested, charged, or injured in the encounter – which he recorded on video and posted online.

So these cops "know of this guy" yet they still choose to try to intimidate him and initiate a bad outcome.
This is why its easy not to care when the cops get shot. The open carry guy was doing nothing wrong and they know that from previous encounters. All of the school employees that were in on this need to be suspended and the only way they get their jobs back is to complete a gun safety class. We need to educate these ignorant individuals so they quit wasting public services. Teachers need to have the tools to teach, so force them into some gun education so this shit stops.
It is appalling that so many teachers are anti gun and clueless to educate the students we pay them to teach.

The cops didn't initiate anything. He confronted the cops. He could have just kept walking down the road and nothing would have happened.

They aren't blocking the street.
He's walking down the street.... see's a cop pulled off the the side of the road on a side street and walks over to confront the cop. Then more show up.

Ok, your video is different than the one that is on Facebook, it starts with the cop cars blocking the street and 3 or 4 cops standing there being confrontational douchebags.
I would never want anyone knowing I have a CWP or carry, I think guys like this are just looking for a problem and are idiots but he still has the right to do what he does. I am one of the few that doesnt care or think it makes gun owners look bad and in some way I am glad it irritates the anti gunners the way it does.......just so they have to deal with how I feel about them.

True, but MOST police departments are bringing this kind of shit on themselves. Their cops are looking for a way to fu*k you up or get you in trouble in anyway they can. Call it making a name for themselves or a quota most cops are not civil anymore. They can say they still serve and protect (Themselves) its just not the people they are being paid to S&P.

I don't know how any part of that video can be edited down to make the cops look bad. This guy is a complete idiot (not understanding that "public school" doesn't mean any John Q Public can do anything he wants on the property) and he's looking for a fight.
