Troll.BLS points to the aging of the baby boom generation as a key factor affecting the labor force participation rate:
"In 2000, baby boomers were aged 36 to 54 years and were in the group with the highest participation rates: the prime-aged group 25 to 54 years old. The participation rate for women in this group was 76.7 percent and for men was 91.6 percent, so that the overall participation rate of the group was 84.0 percent. The participation rate of the next-older age group, that 55 years and older, was 32.4 percent, so the difference between the two age groups was 52 percentage points.”
But, with the passage of every year after 2000, a segment of the baby-boomer population passes into the 55-years-and-older age group, thus moving from a group with a high participation rate in the labor force to an age category with a much lower participation rate, causing the overall participation rate to decrease, BLS explained.
“The baby boomers’ exit from the prime-aged workforce (with the highest participation rates) into the 55-years-and older age groups (with much lower participation rates) will ultimately lower the overall labor force participation rate, leading to a slowdown in the growth of the labor force."
Which isn't necessarily a bad thingis it?Grizalltheway wrote:So is any surprised that Tbags doesn't actually read the shit he posts?

It's interesting that nobody is moving into the 36 to 55 age group to replace the baby boomers.Grizalltheway wrote:So is any surprised that Tbags doesn't actually read the shit he posts?

Perhaps the generations are different in population?Baldy wrote:It's interesting that nobody is moving into the 36 to 55 age group to replace the baby boomers.Grizalltheway wrote:So is any surprised that Tbags doesn't actually read the shit he posts?
Troll.
I'm sure there are enough Gen X'ers and Millennials to take their place, and those jobs.kalm wrote:Perhaps the generations are different in population?Baldy wrote: It's interesting that nobody is moving into the 36 to 55 age group to replace the baby boomers.
Typical conk - either works for the government or is a total welfare whore. In your case, a fucking bum who couldn't hack it so you gave up to let others find your bum lifestyle.travelinman67 wrote:Payroll Workers=More Tax Revenue.
THAT'S why the Progs are pissed.
Work for yourself...not for the government.
Let Obama figure some other way to fund free education, healthcare and meals for the illegal voters he imports.

Negative. Never a state employee...local govt...25 years ago. I founded a union for specific political purposes...not for money. I paid for my own college...no loans...never took a penny of govt assistance for any of my businesses.Chizzang wrote:Tough talk twinkle toestravelinman67 wrote:Payroll Workers=More Tax Revenue.

I believe that it is a very significant amount. As the middle-class gets wrung out and discarded by the psychopath elite that own the banks that control governments and media, people still gotta eat, and minimum wage won't put both food in your mouth and/or a roof over your head. There is an ever-growing shadow economy populated by the ever-growing number of ex-middle-class folk who have little-to-no skin in the American Dream and never will again. That's what gives me a twinge of worry about legalizing weed. Right now with black-market weed prices where they are one part-time min. wage job to show something to the guvmint and a couple of side gigs and a fellow can get by without having to deal with scum-sucking parasite freeloaders like Tman; overhead who produce nothing and leech off of those who do.... I know a young guy in his late 20s who works 25 hrs. at Lowes, mows lawns on Thursday, Friday and Saturday eight months of the year during the day, plays sax with three different bands at bars and wineries year round, and uses his pick up for scrapping. Grows a little weed every year. He pays tax on about $800/mnth, earns twice that scrapping, (which he sometimes pays tax on), and gigging, (never), and pockets a tidy sum in the fall just in time to upgrade his lifestyle for the holidays. A classic entrepreneur- he can't get his snout into the mainstream trough so he made his own game in a parallel economic space and is doing quite well without any help from anybody. May all the gods smile upon his generations.
