This. Midshipmen Marine options were the knuckledraggers at TBS. And the more they tried to knock rings, the more we prior-enlisted, ROTC, and OCC Lt's would isolate and humiliate them.

I've been familiar with Beauchamps for some time- he touches on some potentially valid points.

But let's don't call him an expert on the matter.... he's pretty much a proven bullshit artist with some minor axes to grind, most likely.

I distinctly remember standing in the wardroom of my ship one morning (I'd just arrived a couple weeks earlier and really didn't know many people) when a newly minted Ensign from the Naval Academy reported aboard as the Gunnery Officer. The guy wilted like a flower, crawling away with his tail between his legs. In fairly short order he figured out just exactly how (not) important that Academy graduation certificate was to the rest of us, and in time became one of my best friends on the boat and still is to this day. On THAT particular day, however, I thought he was a total douche. And of course, he was ALWAYS jealous that he couldn't sit with us at the Mustangs table in the wardroom to eat with all the cool officers.
