Have you ever seen the movie Miracle on 34th Street?
If you created a court case in the US to prove or disprove the existence of God, instead of Santa Claus, which side do you think would win? This is a legal question, not a personal belief question.

Read Josephus' ANTIQUITIES OF THE JEWS. Even if you don't believe, the GOP's platform of "I got mine, now get yours" goes against EVERYTHING that the message stands for. Peace.

I'm not going to read that. But if you're talking about the things Jesus is reported to have said: Jesus was reported to have said something along the lines of "YOU help the poor."

Nowhere is he reported to have said something like, "You work to establish a government that will force OTHER PEOPLE to help the poor via taxing them and forcibly re-distributing their income." Or anything like that.

There is NOTHING in what Jesus is reported as having said that supports the idea of government taking care of the poor. And, no, the "give to Caesar what is Caesar's" does not do that.

I'm pretty sure Jesus would have wanted the Royals to win the World Series...
I'm comfortable making that assertion

One would think he favored the Cardinals.

If you read the Gospels I don't think you'd come away with the Jesus character caring about that one way or another. But he certainly didn't say, "You guys get together and vote to make the rich people take care of the poor."

It was definitely a "YOU do it" sort of thing. No indication whatsoever that the civil government should be involved in doing it. Personal.

This thing where liberals or progressives or whatever you want to call them act as though what Jesus said supports forcing people to take care of the poor via government taxation and redistribution is total crap.

Well I for one absolutely agree John...
I've never agreed more strongly with you than right now
In fact I don;t want Jesus ANYWHERE NEAR my politics - and I wish EVERYBODY understood that plainly

Keep Jesus OUT OF POLITICS (period)
