First Same-Sex marriage license issued in SC

Charleston County Probate Judge Irvin Condon said Wednesday he will grant a marriage license to a female couple seeking to marry here, an unexpectedly quick change that rippled from Monday's U.S. Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage cases.
His statement came just minutes after Charleston County Councilwoman Colleen Condon and her fiancee Nichols Bleckley arrived in his office to fill out a marriage license form and pay their $70 fee.

Judge Condon's statement said, "As a result of the actions of the United States Supreme Court this past Monday, the Charleston County Probate Court is required to accept and issue marriage licenses for same sex couples. Applications will be accepted beginning today, October 8, 2014, and the Charleston County Probate Court will issue the marriage license after the mandatory 24 hour waiting period unless stayed by the South Carolina Supreme Court or another appropriate court."

Good for them. The Condon's are a wonderful family. Roman Catholic, Republican (except for Colleen) and great members of the community.

It's why nobody should be against same sex marriage.

Meanwhile, 3 couples in my area were denied licenses today.
Greenville County Probate Judge Debora Faulkner explained to the three couples who applied for licenses Wednesday morning why she was denying their applications and issued the following statement:
"First and foremost, I am committed to following the law. As citizens we expect nothing less from our Judiciary. The legal questions surrounding same sex marriage have not been yet settled to a certainty. I am monitoring the situation closely and will act accordingly once the remaining questions have been answered by the 4th Circuit and US Supreme Court."

I agree with the judge in this case. I'm all for homo marriage but we are a nation of laws and the judges need to follow them.
And yeah for the trolls.... the "deflowering a maiden under the age of 16" law in SC needs to be removed from the books
