Pretty much spot on, except the progressive part. Jimmy Carter signed our futures away to the middle east and none of the Presidents since have shown the leadership to take our futures back. Not one progressive in the bunch.

What did Jimmy Carter do that signed our future away to the middle east? I honestly don't know what he did. I'm not disagreeing. I was only 5-9 years old during his presidency, so I didn't really have a political eye back then. Educate me.

If anything he wanted us to be less dependent on the ME by supporting alternative energy. Which, of course, Uncle Ronnie promptly reversed upon taking office.

He signed a lot of the nuclear regulations after Three Mile Island. Carter didn't think it was a very serious disaster, but would not admit it in public because of his party affiliation. This continued the fear mongering of today to continue to battle agains nuclear energy. Carter banned reuse of nuclear energy, like they have in progressive France, hence leaving all this dangerous waste laying around doing nothing. The fear has been so great that when Reagan lifted the ban, there was no money to be found. A real leader would have set the reuse of spent energy in motion. The fear mongering today has the US leadership afraid of pipelines, afraid of fracking, and still afraid of nukes. If this country had the nukes, oil and gas from the facilities that were never built, we wouldn't be in the middle east and the middle east may not have come here to bomb our towers etc.

It's not that it's change. It's that it's degradation. Degradation is change. But it's not a good thing. If it were change for the better I'd be all for it. But it's not.
