Throwing the American family under the bus, once again.

I can't think of a state that deserves it more.

Was thinking the same...MA, king of nimbyism.

Watch out, though...a few EC FERC analysts warned many of the NE energy companies aren't allowed to file for winter rate changes until Nov.

WC, PG&E has more than doubled rates over the past 4 years. As a cost of operations, across the board, that translates to 8-25% increase in price of delivered goods.

These are unnecessary, self-inflicted costs at a time when every wasted penny taken from consumer spending further sinks any chance for an economic recovery.

The utility blame the rate hikes on the cost of buying electricity from power plants, which has soared because of an increased demand for natural gas used to generate electricity.

"This is something that's not within National Grid's control," spokesman Jake Navarro said. "This is a market-based problem."

Huh? :suspicious:

Roger that.

Look no farther than Massachusetts' "Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative" Deval Patrick championed and signed into law back in 2008. It was his attempt to one up California. Requires utilities invest a percentage into "renewables". Akin to most "green" proposals, the planners can't see past the end of their nose.

Just bill the taxpayers...they'll pay if they want to live.

The Progressives won't stop until they lower the standard of living for all. It isn't right to let the market dictate economics, we must pass ridiculous environmental legislation and then cry about greedy corporations causing the price of things like electricity going up.

Let's take this thought further..like the water "crisis" in Detroit, when the shut offs start due to nonpayment there will be protests claiming electricity is a "human right",,,the utilities will be pressured to roll back rates and "forgive debt"...this will cut into their already regulated profit margin, which will drive away investors...

Yea, what could go wrong there???

Our electricity consumption leads the rest of the world by miles and it's still relatively cheap compared to other OECD countries. According to the article, the market is dictating the economics…at least according to the progressives who run the electric company. :suspicious:

Serious questions: How do you define progress? How do you define standard of living?

In fairness, they should start with the blue states.

Kalm lives in a region with an abundance of water and the lowest electric rates in the U.S.

Washington state, thanks to the Columbia River hydroelectric projects, has one of the lowest end user rates in the nation. I'm reminded that EVERY TIME I talk with my family from WA. :finger:
