This is the video I made almost 3 months ago:

This video was made long before we were told officially that Iraq would be split into 3 countries, I pointed out that it was the plan, and called it out:

The Kurds deserve their own independent state.

Arbitrary lines in the sand that were made by European nations were a terrible idea then and still is today.

The Kurds are some of the nicest people I've ever met...damn good fighters too, and loyal.

If anyone deserves our help, it's them. Only people in that whole part of the world I'd trust.

Turkey isn't going to get involved in our attacks on ISIS for the simple fact that ISIS is against the Kurds. Iran and Syria would also lose territory from a Kurdish state being formed and their own Kurdish populations wanted to secede and join.

But ironically, having another middle eastern US ally that ISN'T Israel would do a lot to increase stability in the region.

It may not be the most politically nuanced move, but for all intents and purposes, Kurdistan would be the best thing to happen to the Middle East in a generation.

I'm sure Israel would love another country to be a target besides them...and no way Iran, Syria, and Turkey give up any land to form this state.

Apples and oranges. Iraq was never a country, per se, until 1920 when the League of Nations and the British decided it would be cool to carve the country out of the rotting corpse of the Ottoman Empire. Those types of thrown together countries, with no history of being together, probably should be left to decide their own fates and devices. It's other countries, like the US, like the UK, that have centuries of history of existing and thriving, that shouldn't be rent asunder just because sometimes it's hard to work together.
