Virginia Governor Found Guilty

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and his wife were convicted Thursday of taking bribes to promote a dietary supplement in a corruption case that derailed the career of the onetime rising Republican star.
A federal jury in Richmond convicted Bob McDonnell of 11 of the 13 counts he faced; Maureen McDonnell was convicted of nine of the 13 counts she had faced. Both bowed their heads and wept as the court clerk read a chorus of "guilty" verdicts.

Well, let's evaluate. Did anyone suffer bodily harm? Did anyone suffer monetarily, other than the person knowingly putting the bribe money at risk? Was his wife a bitch on wheels?
I'm not sure if he will get a full 2 months.

Fairly similar charges to Blagojevich who is currently serving 14 years (though, in a white collar prison, I'm sure).
McConnell was offered to plead to 1 felony - and avoided exposing all the embarrassing (perhaps manufactured/exaggerated) family issues and all charges against his wife would be dropped.

Was watching some pundits and they think he'll get about a year and probation only for the coont. Some penalty, huh? Think any of us would get a year for multiple felonies?
Hell, journalists here get jail for punching it while testing out new cars for automobile reviews:

Rumor has it that when the verdict was announced McDonnell turned and hit his wife in the face. After deliberating for a while, the judge is sentencing him to jail for 6 football games. Had he done it a few weeks ago, it would have only been a 2 game penalty.

In Virginia, it is not unusual for the sentencing hearing is several months after the defendant is found guilty. You may not like it, but this is not unusual in Virginia.
