The Brits are sending 30 troops to participate in exercises.
"A small detachment of around 30 British troops is expected join 1,200 soldiers from 15 nations including America for the two weeks of war games, as Ukraine battles separatists backed by Russian troops in the east.Philip Hammond, Foreign Secretary, said the Kremlin's involvement showed “Russia has chosen the role of pariah, rather than partner”.
Speaking ahead of this week’s Nato summit in Newport, he called on the alliance to show it had the political will to repel an attack on any of its members, or the military partnership would unravel.
A “red line” must be drawn around the 28 member alliance that cannot be crossed he said. Although Ukraine is not a member of Nato, Eastern alliance members including Poland and the Baltic states fear they may soon become the target of Moscow’s aggression and worry Western European members are not prepared to back them."
Yes...that will show 'em!
Russia isn't after the rest of Europe...but hey, let's not focus on reality.
Gonna' be a fun, cold winter in Eastern Europe...Russia should just squeeze the gas supply and send it to China.

Sanctions.
"Last week, following the Putin-Poroshenko failure to compromise on a cease fire, President Obama said more sanctions were now on the table.
If more sanctions really do materialize, they are likely to be contained as it is already clear that the existing sanctions are hurting Europe as much as they are hurting Russia. “Russia seems more capable of living with the pain,” says Dehn. “Russia is the stronger party economically and more willing to commit itself militarily. It has the money, the military might and the resilience, while Europe is divided, vulnerable, slow, and indecisive,” he says.
Russia’s economy is in trouble. But that is likely to be a temporary blip. Moreover, Russia’s deeper macroeconomic fundamentals are better than those of most European countries, notes Dehn. He points out the fact that Russia has less debt, large financial reserves to save its currency if needed, and control over some of the world’s largest energy reserves."
Time is on Russia’s side.
As winter draws near, Russia’s leverage over Ukraine – and ultimately Europe – rises exponentially due to the their dependence on Russian gas.
This war game could be over before the first snowfall.

I flipped on the tube this morning while I was eating my damn oatmeal (RIP Wilford Brimley).
Our beloved President was speaking live from Estonia. The Estonian leader was next to him in a bow tie and was smirking and mugging for the press the entire time Obama was briefing. I wasn't sure if I wanted to reach through the TV and choke the guy for doing it or choke Obama for being such a weak leader that this would even occur. Seriously, Obama just kept droning on when I wanted him to stop, look at the Estonian bub, and say, "look son, you can quit that shit right now. The President of the United States, the most powerful man in the world, is speaking. If you don't STFU, I can blow your head clean off. Do you feel lucky, punk?"
But no, we have weak and ineffective Obama, not Clint Eastwood.

What was the significance in Obama going to Estonia versus Mr. Bow Tie coming to the US?
