A perfect example of passing laws for the purpose of feeling good and not actually doing good. Now a lot of the production is either going underground or leaving the city where there is even less regulation than before.
Absolutely brilliant. Hope the LA voters are happy with themselves.

In this case maybe they were trying to send the industry to Florida

It's not a porn thread until Cappy chimes in - what do you think Cap?

We could use kalm explaining the concept of "race to the bottom", too.

I have a whole bunch of friends who live in Los Angeles that absolutely want the Porn Industry gone.. and this was in their opinion the first step
So it depends on who you talk to
The union Lights and Camera guys are bummed
But the Families and schools and churches are thrilled

Out of curiosity why do they want it gone? Is it very "in your face"? Are they handing out recruiting flyers to kids on the street corner?

There are a myriad of entangled reasons... but the short answer is: Yes

The San Fernando Valley will look like a ghost town without the porn industry.

Hmmm... It will be different for sure - but - ghost town (Hardly)
2 million people live in the valley and the Los Angeles basin has about 4 x that many / either way: I say nope... not
Example:
More people live in Los Angeles county than the entire state of South Carolina (by 2 x)

Well, Chatsworth will certainly be a ghost town.
I think you might be underestimating the economic impact of the porn industry on the SFV. The industry employs about 20k annually. If they all went away, Chatsworth, Reseda, Northridge, Canoga Park and Woodland Hills would all feel the pain.

Hey, Reseda, isn't that where Daniel Laruso ends up living in the Karate Kid? Good stuff.

Which is why I said what I did in my first post. Like Ganny said we may need the Cap'n to chime in here, but while I am sure there are some areas of the porn industry whose stars make a lot of money and look glitzy and glamorous, I would imagine the vast majority of it is fuckin' seedy as shit and probably attracts a rather unseemly group of criminals.
But I am just surmising.

seems to be the general feeling of many of the residents in the valley

Most of the big production studios are owned by organized crime, much like most of the major hotels and casinos and Las Vegas were owned by organized crime.
