This article is a fine example why PATRIOTISM is more of a tool to manipulate than anything else...
Honor is one thing - and frequently used to muddy the waters around Patriotism
BUT: As we see here Patriotism and Honor are NOT related

How many other similar charities are like this?
When you look at any list of the worst charities the most common word that appears in them by far is "children" and there aren't many vet-related charities there.

Anytime I get a pitch from a "charity" like this, it goes right into the recycling bin. There is a nonpartisan website that's pretty good about disclosing who actually gets the monies and what percent goes for, er, "overhead."

The Tea Party hangs their hat on Patriotism as an important element of restoring America (blah blah)
