A new Washington Post/ABC News poll is getting a bit of a bounce this morning because it finds that a record high number of Americans disapprove of their own Member of Congress — reflecting, once again, just how poorly this Congress is viewed.

But the relative ratings of the Republican and Democratic parties are also noteworthy, particularly among key voter groups that GOP leaders have been hoping to improve their appeal among ever since the 2012 loss produced a round of soul searching about the party’s future. The toplines are that among registered voters, 38 percent view the GOP favorably, versus 60 percent who view it unfavorably; among Dems those numbers are 51-46.

Here’s a rundown among subgroups:

– Among women, the favorable/unfavorable numbers for the GOP are 33-62. For the Democratic Party they are flipped around, at 54-40.

– Among nonwhites, those numbers for the GOP are 25-70. For the Democratic Party they are flipped around at 68-26.

– Among Latinos, those numbers for the GOP are 29-65. For the Democratic Party they are flipped around at 61-33.

– Among adults aged 18-29, those numbers for the GOP are 31-61. For the Democratic Party they are flipped around at 51-35.

– Among moderates, those numbers for the GOP are 32-66. For the Democratic Party they are flipped around at 52-45.

So what's the point? The net contributors to the American economy favor the GOP, and the drains favor the Democrats?

Isn't this predominantly the group that voted Democrat in '08 and '12? There are no surprises here.

This administration has done such an excellent job of vilifying those who have done well and are wealthy while seemingly embracing the middle class that they've created a new race/class war. I'd argue the last 5 years have set race relations back 15 years or more. Most.divisive.president.ever.

I look forward to the Clinton campaign spin on how she's "one of us" while raking in $100 million or more.

Nothing new about the GOP having trouble with minorities and young people. If you look at the numbers for the women the disapproval of the donks is high. What would those numbers be if it were white women?

But, disapproval are 22 points higher for the GOP.

Despite that dubious disapproval rating, the Dems are going to get an epic ass-kicking in November. Ain't no way around that.

One thing you have to be careful of is that race plays into all of it.

For example:

It's true that women and voters in the 18 -29 age group voted majority Obama in 2012. Women voted for Obama by an estimated 55 - 44% and voters in the 18 - 29 age group voted for Obama by an estimated 60 - 36%.

However, White women voted for Romney by an estimated 56 - 42% and White people 18 - 29 voted for Romney by an estimated 51 - 44%.

Yes, sex and age are factors. But race is the big one. Like in the Presidential election Whites overall voted for Romney by 59 - 39% but it wasn't enough to overcome the 81 - 18% edge Obama had among everybody else.

Which is why, by the way, you need to really think about what you are doing if you are White and vote Democrat. They know where their bread is buttered and it's buttered by overwhelming support among people that are not White. People talk about the Republican Party being the "White" Party. Well, when it comes to the support they rely on for national power, the Democratic Party is much more of a "NonWhite" Party than the Republican Party is a "White Party." They know where their bread is buttered and it's buttered by maintaining overwhelming support among NonWhites. Without it they wouldn't even be competitive and they know that.

I do believe the Senate is going to flip. In actual numbers that will only mean the loss of a few seats by the Dems, but in political terms it would be classed as an EPIC ASS KICKING.

So yeah- I think there are going to be some political consequences in Congress for an array of things this November.

You're going to have to do a much better job of voter suppression this time than Karl Rove was able to do last time. Some serious people gave him a lot of money and he didn't deliver.

Rumor is that the Dems have hired all the best computer guys for the vote count and the electronic fix is in already and the Dems are looking to pick up a few Senate seats for minority candidates.
