"Where your ideology says you should live

Last week’s Pew Research Center report detailing the partisanship that increasingly defines American life showed the average American is much more likely to choose to live near people of similar ideological bents. Liberals like living in urban areas, within walking distance of shops and neighbors. Conservatives prefer the wide-open spaces outside the city that puts more distance between themselves and the next-closest house.

But once you’ve identified the state in which you want to live, who’s going to tell you which Zip codes are best for your ideological leanings? Leave that to the good folks at Clarity Campaign Labs.

That’s right, the Democratic modeling and analytic firm that broke down partisan leanings by first name has now crunched their numbers even further. Answer a few simple questions below, pick your favorite state, and call your real estate agent — their data will show you the Zip code that’s most ideologically in tune with your beliefs.

Here’s an example, from your humble author’s home state of Washington: Let’s take the typical liberal line — Democratic, advocates abortion rights, not a church-goer but concerned with climate change, pro-gun control, pro-tax hike and preferring urban areas. Clarity’s data shows that person should live in the 98102 Zip code, in the heart of Seattle’s progressive Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Someone with the opposite views — Republican, antiabortion, regular church-goer, climate change skeptic, gun rights backer, low-tax lover who prefers rural areas — would fit in best in the 99330 Zip code, in Eltopia, Wash., just north of the Snake River near Kennewick....."

I was straight line disagree except for the abortion ? because it is "Abortion should be legal and accessible to all women". I think it should be legal but with restrictions, so I couldn't put agree or disagree, so put don't include.

Anyway, for PA my zicodes were (top 3 all started with 169, all or part in rural Tioga County):
1. Morris, PA 16938 Population Density: 7.064 people per square mile (The most rural in PA?).
2. Middlebury Center, PA 16935
3. Harrison Valley, 16927
4. Smethport 16749
5. Forksville 18616

I don't have to take the quiz.

Don't impede your thoughts and values on others.

Seeking out an area with other similar minded individuals isn't impeding your thoughts and values on others.

No its not. Actually the contrary. More opportunities to do stuff you like doing and more interaction with people who like doing similar stuff as you.

I guess if you're old and set in your ways.

I'd rather be exposed to different ways of thinking, different interests, etc. etc.

Different strokes, I guess.

Lame poll, not nearly enough questions.

According to my answers I should be living under an I-5 bridge somewhere near the shipyards by the Duwamish River. Then it was Vashon Island which is a little more appealing and a hippie enclave, followed by the Lumi Indian Reservation. :?

I'm with Skelly. I have zero problem with living in uber conk Eastern Washington. Opposing views don't frighten me that much and easy access to the scab rock, Columbia Basin Desert, and Roos Field along with fewer people are far greater priorities for me.

Based on this, I'm where I should be. But I don't trust a survey composed of a handful of questions.

#2 was Sullivan's Island
#3 was Mt. Pleasant

I did yell "your state is small" at the URI football team once. It was a rare opportunity for a Delawarean.

People that prefer to live in urban areas or who live in urban areas for any reason other than they have no other choice are sick.

IMO, the two main reasons people would prefer large cities are more dining options and "culture". You are like me in that you aren't impressed with upscale or exotic food and think diversity is overrated, so it's no surprise that we prefer smaller towns.

If night life and obscure food and ballets aren't your thing there is no way you could stand the big city.
