This article is directed towards those who are susceptible to scare tactics. History didn't begin 30 years ago. Norfolk has been flooding since that was a Norfolk and that covers nearly 400 years. But what the heck, if they're right and the 4 short blocks between me and the river slip away, I will be able to spend my dotage with a waterfront view.

I just moved to the area a few months back, live off the Lafayette River. God ODU is a POS campus
Anyway, I digress. I was kind of surprised how much Norfolk floods...everywhere, especially Ghent. Everyone seems to agree it's normal. I guess I was just curious. I have some friends who live off the Hague and I was over at their place when the big rubber ducky was in the river.
Heh, heh...

.....the internet has ruined me.
I noticed that high tide almost came over the walls. Again, they said that's normal. I looked into it a little bit and found this.
It's true, it has been happening forever, but the number of times and extent of the flooding has definitely been on the rise. This again is just one set of data from "our neighborhood" and is just a piece of the global puzzle. From my understanding, Norfolk is sinking anyway, time to move to Suffolk.

Norfolk is sinking. A meteor struck the mouth of the Chesapeake millions of years ago and created an enormous underwater crater. Norfolk is sinking into it.
I've been to Norfolk and would like thank the meteor.
