That's 4 mil that will be spent on crap instead of energy or medical research. And I thought NSF money was tight these days. Guess not.

It is both a deflection and a valid observation of "what's good for the goose"...

But I agree (not my strongest reply)

that goes without saying
but I believe what you are trying to say is that conservatives would be appalled if they acheived their own utopia

Interesting point really...
The old saying be careful what you wish for applies here strongly
Because with each (Liberal and Conservative) ideologies comes the tag-along issues
Take for example our favorite whipping boy on the forum: Big Religion
It has attached itself to the conservative movement (like it or not) and it has it's own "Ultimate Goals" and end-game that do not cleanly fold into the Conservative Utopia but they are hand in hand skipping down the lane together...
I know this conversation will turn into this

but it might be fun to discuss

or the progressive idea that there is no problem that cannot be handled through force of government
at some point they would decry the loss of liberty... and when you think about it... it is already happening
our government has a life or death mandate (do it or lose your office) to protect us and yet few people question where that takes us

Well of course...just look at what's happening in California and New York.
They vote for the most "progressive" candidate and once that person gets in office and passes more "progressive" legislation the people start leaving in droves because of the repressive taxes, rules, regulations, etc.
They then set up residence in Colorado, North Carolina, Florida, etc. and do the same thing...rinse and repeat.

Money is never tight when you have a fiat currency that can be printed at will.
