David Tran, the CEO of Huy Fong, says he escaped from Vietnam almost 35 years ago to be free of the communist government there and its many intrusions."Today, I feel almost the same. Even now, we live in (the) USA, and my feeling, the government, not a big difference," Tran says.

LOL - so he is mad that he can't continue to pollute the neighborhood with pepper fumes and has to install pollution controls..
Poor guy. That is what living in a civilized nation does.
Why don't you move next door to his plant, T-man?

Building a plant in California was his first problem. They want all the jobs, just none of the problems.
California is more efficient than the EPA at sniffing out environmental problems. Except for the whole LA basin.

You mean they expect companies to demonstrate some kind of social responsibility?

Just sayin'. If you want go get by with it for a while California isn't where you start. They have standards higher than the Feds.
I'm guessing you don't appreciate the nectar that is Sriacha, you freak. Why do you hate America?

Texas was offering...he should have jumped. He will regret staying in California.

Of course I love Sriacha, but like dback implied, I wouldn't want to live next to the place making it if they weren't doing anything to control emissions. NIMBY and all that.

I'd go in with some others to fund a house for you with wind turbines, a solar farm, and a Sriracha plant all next door. You'd have a clean conscience and low/no bills, but very little sleep would be my guess.

None of the wind farms I've seen were anywhere near residential areas, but I do see plenty of homes with solar panels on/around them.

I think both parties can agree on the NIMBY premise. I'm not positive the solar argument works for most people at least around here with the amount of trees. If you could make a cohesive argument that I'd recoup my initial investment in 2-3 yrs I'd do solar at my house.

There's a good reason for that. Let's look at the facts:
1. You live in Montanada
2. The homes you see with solar panels are in Montanada
3. Montanada does not have electricity
4. Native Montanadians do not know what electricity is.
5. These are people who immigrated to Montanada from a northern Province that had electricity.
6. These new Montanadians like their video games.
7. Solar Panels power their video games.

Don't like Sriracha...
...I'm a Crystal man.
Hot sauces from Louisiana...nearer, my God, to thee.
Personally, Huy Fong's decision to stay in CA is unsound. CA govt agencies rat pack (gang up on) businesses which run afoul of any single regulation: Once they smell blood, it's over.
Huy Fong's troubles have just begun...watch.

Yawn. Aren't you due for some new material, Mr. Cracker Pizza?

Simple solution. Don't buy a house next door.

I am sure the big earthquake will hit soon and California will fall into the ocean/hell...or open up a big volcano and everyone, besides a few Cal-Poly guys, THEY, T-man, SDhornet and a few others make it out...the rest

The pisser is that the Capitol Bldg USED to be in San Jose, otherwise, it would be the Trifecta...
...L.A., S.F. and State Capitol...KERPLOP!
All of California's treasures left behind...
...Ag, Yosemite, Sierras, Redwoods, Napa/Sonona/Foothill wine country, Shasta/Lassen, Lake Tahoe, all the big lakes & rivers that matter.
Admittedly, SLO (Cal Poly) drops in the drink, however, with all the seismic detectors in the area, those Mustangs who are conscious can make a run for Fresno.
