I think that if I was the President of one of the PIGS of Europe I'd be less rabid about Sarah Palin and a little more concerned about how the economic policies of EU outliers like Ireland are hurting their own people. Deregulation and tax cuts lead to boom, then collapse. Taxpayers bail out banks with higher VAT. Similar situation to a certain other country. Ireland's economic troubles TODAY were not caused by the same sovereign policies that sunk Greece. Not all PIIGS are the same was my point. Tea partiers would have favored Ireland's economic development but they still ended up in trouble. (And I know, some of it has to do with eurozone currency and monetary policy.)

As for your other butt hurt, I singled out Baldy, not everybody else, for an issue he was displaying some ignorance on. A tactic you've NEVER used before, I'm sure.

an excellent example of this is Italy - where quite literally - to escape their governments tax grip the most vital portions of the economy have almost completely gone underground with the bulk of untaxable transactions happening every day

That's true. We ARE a business friendly country, but for things like the service industries, .coms, retail and very high end niche manufacturing.

I don't think we are on the verge of a total breakdown- I think it already happened around 25-30 years ago and we just didn't notice. That's when our heavy industries began moving overseas. Like you said, the stuff that was capbable of going to China has already gone- and those were our most strategic industries- heavy alloys, components, you name it. Those are the kinds of industries that in addition to being strategic, also employ large numbers of Houndawgs and Klams and keep them happy with a pig in the pot and a Model T in the garage.
