"She is a compelling public figure and advocate for women's rights, and we respect and appreciate her work to protect and defend the rights of women and girls throughout the world," said the university's statement. "That said, we cannot overlook certain of her past statements that are inconsistent with Brandeis University's core values."

Ali, a member of the Dutch Parliament from 2003 to 2006, has been quoted as making comments critical of Islam. That includes a 2007 interview with Reason Magazine in which she said of the religion, "Once it's defeated, it can mutate into something peaceful. It's very difficult to even talk about peace now. They're not interested in peace. I think that we are at war with Islam. And there's no middle ground in wars."

Ali was raised in a strict Muslim family, but after surviving a civil war, genital mutilation, beatings and an arranged marriage, she renounced the faith in her 30s.
BTW, D1B: If you read this, you really need to get away from the "Catholic" thing and focus on the religion that is really a problem in today's world. If you're really concerned about issues of religion causing problems, you're focusing on a gnat while an elephant is wreaking havoc.

Did anybody watch the Winter Olympics? The Dutch kicked ass at speed skating. Some pretty good Dutch painters over the years as well.

Brandeis did itself no favors with this cowardly decision. They caved to the demands of the thugs from CAIR.

I'll be the first to admit Islam is a pile of shit, but at least they're honest and don't try to hide their tyrannical intentions and crimes against humanity under a bullshit veil of love, charity, jesus, lawyers, PR firms and complacent/idiot lay people like the catholic church does.

You're Joltin Joe in training. That dumb fucker uses a species of this parlor trick to justify the rape of thousands of women and children by his priests and bishops. Essentially, they're worse so we're OK. :dunce:

That being said, I agree with the woman 100%. She basically gave the recipe and timeline for the transformation of Isam. The catholic church is currently going through the same thing. For centuries it was the most powerful, feared, brutal, corrupt and murderous entity on the planet until people like this woman (along with atheists, secularists, secular humanists, humanists, advocacy group, women, chilren, minorities other church victims, merchants, capitalists, printers, protestants, slaves, scientists, historians, authors, artists, and former catholics) challenged the Church and forced it to change for the better.

Joltin Joe should be thanking me for doing the work he doesn't have the guts or wherewithall to do.

I remember when blueballs said he would never give another penny to Georgia Southern if they had Bill Ayers speak on campus.

I wonder if he's a man of his word? :coffee:

Okay... Firstly the clever use of English is what makes it funny
Secondly knowing that Kalm will not care in the slightest also adds to the humor
Because Kalm was playing devils advocate and looking for something just like that as a response

I believe they call it "Trolling"

But I really appreciate that you're taking the "personal attacks" thing seriously
and I am being sincere / It's not an effective way to interact with others

 You clearly haven't read the DullRazor thread...personal attacks were very effective and were the cause of many tears...of laughter. 93 and 86 were on a roll...ninjas they were...dicing and slicing their way to internet immortality.

If you don't think so, well, there's no hope for you.

Then again...you owe ten Hail Mary's for your sins against JSO. He seems to be your Huckleberry when you look to go off your own wagon. :thumb:

Anyway, we should go back to the whole thread issue of supposedly learned, thin-skinned folks being offended by and oppressing free speech. 8-)

Sadly I missed that thread...
AND: I enjoy JSO immensely - this forum wold limp along without him
and much of my joy would be diminished

However he's still confused about Nihilism and Atheism = he thinks they are the same thing
and lumps the argument against one perspective into the argument against the other

In a World where people are surrounded by darkness, ignorance and fear, it is a sign of hope to be celebrating Islam's message of peace and light, and the last great Messenger, born and chosen to deliver them to all mankind.

“Islam is not part of the problem in combating violent extremism – it is an important part of promoting peace.”

As Christian writer and psychiatrist M. Scott Peck explained, there are different stages of spiritual maturity. Fundamentalism – whether it be Muslim, Christian, Jewish or Hindu fundamentalism – is an immature stage of development. There are peaceful, contemplative Muslim sects – think the poet Rumi and the whirling dervish Sufis – and violent sects, just as there are contemplative Christian orders and violent Christian groups (and peaceful and violent atheists)...

Data from polling firm Gallup shows that out of all the religious groups in the U.S., Muslims are most likely to reject violence, followed by the non-religious atheists and agnostics.

Through interviews with 2,482 Americans, Gallup found that 78 percent of Muslims believe violence which kills civilians is never justified, whereas just 38 percent of Protestant Christians and 39 percent of Catholics agreed with that sentiment. Fifty-six percent of atheists answered similarly.

When Gallup put the question a bit more pointedly, asking if it would be justified for “an individual person or a small group of persons to target and kill civilians,” the responses were a bit more uniform. Respondents from nearly all groups were widely opposed to such tactics, with Protestants and Catholics at 71 percent against. Muslims still had the highest number opposed, at 89 percent. Seventy-six percent of atheists were also opposed.

Well, he did murder a couple of San Francisco cops with a bomb and left five kids without fathers. I'm not aware that Alinsky did anything like that.

I have to admit that "Jesus H. Titty Fucking Christ, you can't be that stupid." isn't a clever use of English, but it is funny and emphatically makes the point.
