Does it matter if Crimea is part of Russia..?
I couldn't have pointed to Crimea on a map 3 months ago (without serious help)
Am I supposed to care?

I think it matters because it sets a bad precedent. The seed is now planted that Russia can take over land from sovereign nations with little backlash from the international community.

Additionally, China has a few territorial disputes and this probably gives them an idea of what the response may look like by the rest of the world if the simply decide to take what they want.
