I'm willling to chalk this up to just losing track of what the hell she was talking about, maybe even just a simple slip.

The "Guam rolling over and capsizing" debacle was a true measure of idiocy that this particular gaffe doesnt measure up to at all.

You're right that it's not on the same level as Hank Johnson's comments about Guam.

But SJL is the same person that asked if it was possible to get a photo of the flag the astronauts left on Mars, so it does kind of make me wonder.

That is definitely the gold standard of retardation.

The difference is... you'll be hard-pressed to find a thread full on Donks praising Sheila Jackson Lee.

LOL - I was going to post - you don't see a group calling on SJL to run for President, nor put her on a TV Show.

She has "written" zero books, and if she did, very few Donks would buy it, unlike the Caseys of the world that live for her next word.

But you'll find a whole congressional district of them willing to send her to Washington

Perhaps she was aiming for influence on the Constitution from the Magna Charta....

I doubt it. She probably thinks the Magna Carta is a Buick model.

I doubt that Sarah Palin will ever be seriously considered to head DHS either.

What was implied was that somehow conservatives worship Bachman or Palin and that this is unique in some way

but in reality Palin has not been reelected to national office over and over and over in spite of being pretty publicly exposed as an idiot

I can see Russia from my house is STILL being bandied about

Sheila Jackson Lee's comment will be forgotten in a few weeks-

So who's obsessed?

It's a liberal media conspiracy. They know better than to put their looney's on display.

Not my favorite public official but I'll cut her some slack on this one. I doubt she went into that statement thinking the Constitution has been in place for 400 years. My guess is one of those slip of the tongue things. Kind of like Obama with the 57 States thing.

No.

I was talking specifically about this site.

Sure you were.

To the exclusion of what you think of the bigger picture

Totally believable

I guess I should have said "thread on this site" -- but, I thought it was pretty clear that I was talking about threads on this site...

I'm not ignoring the "bigger picture" - just don't think I have any reason to defend people that elect morons on both sides for Congress. The votes are mainly over $$ for their districts.

Again, when Palin became the VP nominee... Conks ON THIS SITE fawned over her. There isn't an example of the same with Sheila Jackson Lee. That's all I'm saying.
