Democrats Try Wooing Ones Who Got Away: White Men

Longer read, just included some excerpts..
"......part of an internal debate at all levels of his party over how hard it should work to win over white men, especially working-class men without college degrees, at a time when Democrats are gaining support from growing numbers of female and minority voters.
It is a challenge that runs throughout the nation’s industrial heartland, in farm states and across the South, after a half-century of economic, demographic and cultural shifts that have reshaped the electorate. Even in places like Michigan, where it has been decades since union membership lists readily predicted Democratic votes, many in the party pay so little attention to white working-class men that it suggests they have effectively given up on converting them.....
.....No Democratic presidential candidate has won a majority of white men since Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964. Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama all prevailed with support of the so-called rising electorate of women, especially single women, and minorities. But fewer of those voters typically participate in midterm elections, making the votes of white men more potent and the struggle of Democrats for 2014 clear......
......And this year, Democrats, hobbled by Mr. Obama’s sagging popularity, are defending many red-state Senate seats, including some in places with few members of minorities, like West Virginia.....
“You can’t just give Republicans a clear field to play for the votes of white working-class men without putting up some sort of a fight because that just allows them to run the table with these voters, thereby potentially offsetting your burgeoning advantage among minorities, single women, millennials,” said Ruy Teixeira, an analyst at the left-leaning Center for American Progress.
“I just think Democrats are having a hard time figuring out how to effectively pursue it,” he added.
What discourages Democrats is that men’s attitudes shaped over generations — through debates over civil rights, anti-Communism, Vietnam, feminism, gun control and dislocations from lost manufacturing jobs and stagnant wages in a global economy — are not easily altered.....
.....Generally, however, the Democrats’ Senate majority is at risk, which helps explain why the party has not tried to revive gun-safety legislation proposed after the Newtown, Conn., school massacre. Few issues have hurt Democrats more among working-class white men over time.
“It’s a bad stigma: If you’re a Democrat, you’re against guns,” said State Representative Scott Dianda, a Democrat in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. He is quick to say he is a hunter......"

Yes, because a significant chunk of the Democrat's collection of hypocritical, intolerant, racist, stolen gun toting, thuggish, spread legged, baby mama, daddy too busy to stick around, crooked government employed, ticks are too lazy to vote consistently or legally.

I've got more to say on the basic post but my first knee jerk is to say that it's probably true that no Democratic Presidential candidate has won the majority of the white vote period...men and women...since then. Yes white men have voted more overwhelmingly against the democratic candidate but I have looked before at all of the elections starting with Nixon vs. Humphrey and no Democrat has won the majority of the white vote in that time. Obama lost both among white men and white women both times. The only Democratic candidate of my voting lifetime that's won the majority of white women is ... you can guess it...Bill Clinton. And I honestly don't think that's because of his philosophy. Honestly, I think it's because a sufficient proportion of white women thought he was hot.

A substantial majority of White men have too much sense to vote for Democrats. And the thing about "without college degrees" is just a liberal swat.
White men with college degrees vote majority Republican. White mean with graduate degrees vote majority Republican. White men without college degrees vote majority Republican.
The veiled implication that EDUCATED white males vote majority Democrat isn't true. They don't.
I will say I have always wondered why it's "bad" for Republicans to consistently lose among women but not "bad" for Democrats to consistently lose among men.
What's "bad" is that we amended the Constitution to give women the vote. It'd be a better country if we'd never done that.

Why wouldn't the Democrats try to win more white men? They already win every other group there is.
Saw yesterday that 25% of Republicans said they'd vote for Hillary. If that # is even in the ballpark the 2016 race is over.
We need a Chris Christie Comeback...our only hope.

This. Plus you start peeling back the layers and you see that Christie isn't that great. All the Christie lovers might as well find somebody else because it isn't going to happen.

Wrong. Donks nationally on avg don't win a majority of white women (but not the large gap there is with white men).
And a link for that claim that 25% of conks would vote for Hillary?
And she ain't gonna run anyway. Like I said in the RIP Holder thread, after someone else pointed out she had health issues that apparently are worse than disclosed:

Chrstie likely won't happen, but I'd bet on him being the conk nominee before I'd bet on Hildabeast being the donk nominee (see above post). But likely neither Christie nor Hildabeast will be on the ballot Nov 16'

I wonder how many relevant, Blazzing Saddles references can be made.
That movie is an all time favorites. I watched it as a young boy, obviously not catching all the mature jokes. I remember watching it in high school and one day it clicked. I told my parents I was surprised that they had let us watch it when we were young and they just laughed.
These are also the people that laughed at me when I told them my brother shot me in the leg. Once they saw the blood, they stopped laughing.
