Among a list of do’s and don’ts (see embed below) for those who are participating in today’s anti-voter ID march includes the following instruction: “DO bring photo identification (driver’s license, passport or other valid photo ID) with you and keep it on your person at all times.”

It does kind of defeat the purpose.

They're planning to go out for some beers afterwards and wanted to make sure nobody's left out.

Can we all just agree that the only possible reason for being against a voter ID requirement is to facilitate voter fraud?

It would be easy to design a system where you could even let people who don't have their ID vote but tell them their vote won't be counted until they bring an ID later. You could even say that the State will issue them an ID after the fact. Of course there would have to be some kind of time limit. Like maybe 30 days.

But this thing about being against voter ID requirements per se because it's going to keep some people from voting is such BS.

We don't need ID in WA because we use mail-in ballots. :coffee:

There are fewer incidences of voter fraud than Sharknado attacks (or something like that). It's all politics...donks want poor minorities voting and conks don't. Other than that it's a non-issue.

Of course it is to cheat

Obama even figured out how to get an ID

Via WFB:
President Barack Obama gave his driver’s license to poll workers Thursday as he voted early in Chicago.
“I’m just glad I renewed my driver’s license,” Obama joked.

Looks like the poor in South Africa can figure out how to get an ID

Bingo. Not something I'm that passionate about either way.

Dumb of the organization to put that on their flyer or whatever it is. But, meh.

For that to be true the incidence of voter fraud would have to be zero. And that's obviously not true.

It doesn't matter unless it's very close. But it happens. I can remember listening to a Louisiana Public Radio discussion involving Democrat and Republican consultants one time. They were discussing Mary Landrieu's victory over Woody Jenkins in the Louisiana Senate race that got Landrieu started in the Senate. It was a very close race.

BOTH SIDES agreed that voter fraud in the New Orleans area put Landrieu over the top. The Democratic consultant actually said it was the Republicans' fault for not doing a better job of monitoring things to make sure it didn't happen.

I used to have a Orlando Sentinel article about voter fraud in the Bush/Gore race bookmarked but the bookmark no longer works. It described numerous instances of things like felons who were not eligible to vote voting, people voting multiple times, ect. And it was stuff that clearly worked in Gore's favor. There was a woman who voted for Gore like 9 times or something like that.

It does happen. And the claim that it doesn't or that it doesn't happen enough to potentially make a difference in very close races is nonsense. It's just that it's hard to document.

In any case there is no reason to be against voter ID. It's not going to stop anyone who is legitimately eligible to vote once from voting once. Anything one might come up with for why it might can be overcome by provisions to prevent such scenarios. There is absolutely no reason to be against it unless one wants to leave the possibility of voter fraud open.

Frankly, I think they ought to be trying to move towards a computerized system that uses biometrics to ensure that any person who votes in a particular election is eligible to vote and votes only once. That should be possible. Even something so simple in today;s world as requiring that someone place their index finger on a scanner should do it. Just take a fingerprint scan when someone registers to vote then use that data.

Oh but wait...the Democrats did that motor voter thing to facilitate registration fraud. That might be a problem.

You, personally, may not be passionate about it, but your party certainly is. And there's only one logical reason why.

I WILL say this: There should be poll tests. We really should make sure people have at least some rudimentary idea as to what is going on in the world around them and as to the principles of government in the United States before they are allowed to vote. And I don't think there is any language in the US Constitution that prohibits such an approach.

And I am willing to do that and let the chips fall where they may. If the Democrats/Liberals really think they have the intellectually superior position they should be confident that such a system would only help their cause.

But we all know that it wouldn't. We all know that if we only let people who had some clue as to what is going on in the world around them vote the Democratic Party would be devastated.
