Glad to see you on the side of the immoral thugs of the UN Commission.D1B wrote:
The Vatican is a worldwide disgrace and embarrassment to humanity.
The world community is finally calling them out as the crime syndicate they are.
Scandals erupting throughout the world. Catholic Church continues to lose case after case and billions of dollars pilfered from the delusional and poor.

I haven't read it, but if that's true, nobody should waste their time reading it.JoltinJoe wrote:saying that the Vatican's opposition to abortion is a crime against children is the most morally perverse statement I think I have ever read.
Well then read the part about your church protecting child molesters and fostering bigotry against gays.89Hen wrote:I haven't read it, but if that's true, nobody should waste their time reading it.JoltinJoe wrote:saying that the Vatican's opposition to abortion is a crime against children is the most morally perverse statement I think I have ever read.
No they're finally condemning the church for crimes against humanity.Pwns wrote:The UN is throwing a barrage of stones in a glass house here.
Was an independent commission of child welfare experts.Pwns wrote:The UN is throwing a barrage of stones in a glass house here.
I read the opening two articles and Joe's and must have missed it. Which article was it in Joe ?89Hen wrote:I haven't read it, but if that's true, nobody should waste their time reading it.JoltinJoe wrote:saying that the Vatican's opposition to abortion is a crime against children is the most morally perverse statement I think I have ever read.
It's in the report itself. The media is not quoting much from the report itself -- just characterizing it -- because the report itself is vapid and would probably repulse many if they actually read it.kalm wrote:I read the opening two articles and Joe's and must have missed it. Thanks for the clarification. Teddy Roosevelt would be appalled.JoltinJoe wrote:It's in the report itself. The media is not quoting much from the report itself -- just characterizing it -- because the report itself is vapid and would probably repulse many if they actually read it.kalm wrote:

The Committee wrote that abortion is a health care right of adolescents, and the Vatican's position opposing abortion violated provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (Disability, basic health and welfare (arts. 6, 18 (para. 3), 23, 24, 26, 27 (paras. 13) and 33 of the Convention).
Appalling.

I'm childless and no expert on them, but I think I have a good handle on what is in the best interest of a child.JoltinJoe wrote:Actually a panel of extremist "progressives" who fancy themselves "child welfare experts."
I wonder how many of them actually have children.
Heartened to see some news commentary about how this report is lacking in facts and is obviously based on ideology.
As opposed to Popes who know how to raise children........JoltinJoe wrote:Actually a panel of extremist "progressives" who fancy themselves "child welfare experts."

Typical Kill the Messenger strategy used by the church to humiliate victims and families, now directed at U.N. commission. Yawn.JoltinJoe wrote:Actually a panel of extremist "progressives" who fancy themselves "child welfare experts."

Isn't it safe to say that both the Vatican and the UN are imperfect entities that are linked to human suffering?D1B wrote:Typical Kill the Messenger strategy used by the church to humiliate victims and families, now directed at U.N. commission. Priests sure know how to REAR children and get away with it. Rome's chickens are coming home to roost. Even Christ Himself would be running them off out of their lofty places. Sad.
This...is sadly true .FCS PATRIOTS wrote:As opposed to Popes who know how to raise children........JoltinJoe wrote:Actually a panel of extremist "progressives" who fancy themselves "child welfare experts."

Read the report, then look at what has been happening for the last three decades. Then you decide. Kelp in mind this is an independent commission, not the U.N.Ibanez wrote:Isn't it safe to say that both the Vatican and the UN are imperfect entities that are linked to human suffering?D1B wrote:

Serious question.
Both groups have covered up evil deeds. The RCC's inability to protect the youth and adhere to their own moral code is a contributing reason why I left the Church in 2001.D1B wrote:Read the report, then look at what has been happening for the last three decades. Serious question.
Look at what's happening now: more cover up, all over the world.

At the very least, you know that if you have solid evidence that a child has been raped, you would act on it by calling the police. This being the meat of the commission's report - the Catholic Church failed to do the right thing.Ibanez wrote:I'm childless and no expert on them, but I think I have a good handle on what is in the best interest of a child.JoltinJoe wrote:Actually a panel of extremist "progressives" who fancy themselves "child welfare experts."
