Well, yes and no.

Yes: a person can buy goods and services. Like going out to eat and paying bills.
No: Getting unemployment will get you lazy. I know a guy was on unemployment for over 2 years and it took alot for him to say, I need to work somewhere!!

My wife has been unemployed for 5 months and doesn't receive any benefits.

Obama is right. People on unemployment spend to survive everything they have. That money isn't shipped off to the Bahamas were it does no one in the US any good.

Wait a second, I thought the economy has recovered? If it has, then there is no need to keep extending unemployment benefits. And there are plenty of jobs out there, just not jobs Americans are willing to do.

If unemployment benefits are so good for the economy, then shouldn't the economy be booming as we have paid so many so much for so long to be unemployed.

Under employed means they have time in their schedule for a second job no? And no one is entitled to make gobs of money just for showing up at any job.

No. The money mostly goes toward paying off debts that they already incurred. Besides, the amount of unemployment benefits in the aggregate is not enough to have a macro economic impact.

I don’t give a fvck if someone has a PhD and is serving as the fry cook at the local McDonalds, that PhD shall be paid fry cook wages. at the University of Montana (back in the quarters era) you only needed 12 courses for a Masters
that's ONE YEAR if you grind it out

Throw in some field work and a short 200 page book and you've got a PhD or Eng.D. in 3 years

And I’m telling you that just because they have a degree doesn’t mean they’ll be making the big bucks they think they should working a position they are over qualified for. Shit happens; sometimes you have to adjust with the times for better or for worse.

I earned my Master's in 94, when you had to go to class. Not this online shit. But in Atlanta, GA. It seems like everyother person has a damn Masters..........lol. But I think my city is a little different. Travel 100 miles East or West, and its a different story.
