Napolitano stands by controversial report

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Wednesday that she was briefed before the release of a controversial intelligence assessment and that she stands by the report, which lists returning veterans among terrorist risks to the U.S.

But the top House Democrat with oversight of the Department of Homeland Security said in a letter to Ms. Napolitano that he was “dumbfounded” that such a report would be issued.

“This report appears to raise significant issues involving the privacy and civil liberties of many Americans - including war veterans,” said Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, in his letter sent Tuesday night.

The letter was representative of a public furor over the nine-page document since its existence was reported in The Washington Times on Tuesday.

Read between the lines: Anyone who might be able to stand up against, or is standing up against Tyrannical government is now a "Terrorism Risk"..

see how the "War on Terror" is slowly evolving to a "war on every single American?" and the old Enemy Al-Qaeda is no longer a terrorist group to be fought, but instead being funded and aided by our own government?

Does anyone else realize the "War on Terror" is just the precursor to Martial Law in the United States- the justification to spy on Americans, set up cameras in every city, bring in the Patriot Act, NDAA, and FISA Bills, and turn our veterans into potential terrorist risks?

Funny how that happened, isn't it?

Dumbass, that's what I said in the second post!

Napolitano isn't "Big Sis" anymore.. she's running the California State University System (With NO BACKGROUND).. It's all who you know.

Doesn't change the fact that DHS STILL HAS VETERANS LISTED AS POTENTIAL TOP TERRORISTS!!

What's the issue with admitting that they *could* be a terrorist that could do damage?

There are lots of people that could be...bit if told that a soldier was believed to be a terrorist I'd take it a fuck of a lot more serious than average joe shithead down the street.

Doesn't matter if it's true or not.

It's just a dumb thing to say out loud when you are a cabinet level official.

I don't disagree with that....

However, that isn't what Spanos is getting at here is it?

I work under the assumption that Spndos never has a point worth scrutinizing.
