She only wished to buy a meal.

An Ohio woman was collared for petty theft after she was caught swiping $2.87 in change from a fountain last week.

Deidre Romine said she had just fished the coins out of the Logan County Courthouse fountain in Bellefontaine to buy food when a cop approached her on Oct. 7.

Good idea. Get caught in a non-violent crime and get a free meal in jail. Give a sob story so some sap will spring her and give her a truckload of sympathy and freebies.

Perhaps her being a petty thief had something to do with her lack of employment?

Who knows, but feel free to go ahead and make that judgement, being a holier-than-thou conk, and all. :thumb:

Does that money actually BELONG to anyone? I mean, if I throw a $10 bill on the ground, can someone get arrested for picking it up?

Just asking the question, seeing where she is in fact both a petty thief and unemployed.

Here's another question... do you think it is ever okay to steal?

“I’m trying to feed myself and I’ve got four cats I’m raising and trying to feed them,” she said. “I might go to jail.”
Get rid of the friggin cats, dumbass. What the hell are you doing spending money on cats when you can't feed yourself?

Belongs to whoever owns the fountain.

Look, you can't judge her just because she votes for Donks, but you're probably right.

What is the limit on stealing that we should let slide? $5, $10?

A woman with 4 pussies shouldn't be starving, should have plenty to go around. :D

The PROPER response: Make her put it back and get her a burger. That way, there's no need to bust out the cuffs and do the stinking paperwork, she's fed, and there's no chance she blows it on booze.

All bases covered....

I worked at a major theme park and at the end of the year, they cleaned out 2 fountains in the park. Every year it would be in the $10k - $15k range. But there were periodic partial cleanouts during the year too.

The maintenance guys would have to walk the ravine under one of the rollercoasters that turned you upside down. They would find sunglasses, cell phones, hats, etc. (and once found a vibrator  ) and turn them in to "Lost and Found". But the money they found they kept. I spent a couple of months going down there in the morning 3 or 4 days a week to check on a an environmental issue, and I would never leave until I found at least a dollar. It became a game. 8-)

BTW. The pictures people have on their phones are unbelievable. :o

SH, she has done this before probably. It needs to go on record that she was caught. Then, when she gets caught the next time, they can begin the stiffer penalties.
