China: World Needs To Be "de-Americanized"

And, they're probably right. America, once the teacher, mentor, leader and standard by which most activity was judged, is swirling in the toilet bowl, leaving shit stains on whatever it touches.

The looming prospect of a US default on debt prompted China to call for the world to “de-Americanise”, amid warnings of a new global recession.

In China, Xinhua, the official government news agency, said that as American politicians continued to flounder over a deal to break the impasse, “it is perhaps a good time for the befuddled world to start considering building a de-Americanised world”.

The jibe came as Christine Lagarde, the International Monetary Fund chief, raised the spectre of a repeat of the 2008 financial crash as hopes dwindled for a resolution of the crisis over the debt ceiling and partial government shutdown.

Harry Reid, the leader of the Democrat-controlled Senate and Mitch McConnell, who heads the Republican minority, met on Sunday for “preliminary” talks following the acrimonious collapse of negotiations between the White House and Republicans in the lower chamber.

Jack Lew, the Treasury secretary, has said that the US will run out of money to pay its bills on Thursday if Congress does not authorise an increase in federal borrowing limits.

The problem lies squarely with Conks and has been building for decades. It isn't just the current "crisis", either. We're a world bully (thanks to Conks) and people around the globe have been moving away from us for ages. The 20th century was loaded with fine American achievements and we, generally speaking, set a good example for everyone. Now we look silly and the root of most of it is Conks who still can't get over the fact that a black man was elected president. They fight him at every turn, just out of spite....and they openly admit it.

Shame on Conks. Way to go, and here's to the new de-Americanized world. Hope Conks enjoy the trip around the porcelain basin.

I'm perfectly fine gracefully easing into a long slow decline of the empire a la Great Britain. But we're not all that graceful. :suspicious:

China is pooping its pants over a little skirmish over the debt ceiling and we're supposed to be afraid that they will stop lending us money or call in the debt? The Chinese can see the writing on the wall. The US and China either float together or sink together. I'm thinking that they're "banking" on the US public not understanding that, though. :coffee:

And anyways, we have the infallible Nobel-Peace-Prize-winning CiC, right Capn? What can possibly go wrong? :thumb:

Yup. As with the "Liberal Media" myth, blame someone else for not having a message that is palatable to a majority of people.

Conks are an embarrassment to America. Palin, Beck, Bachmann, Santorum, Limbaugh - shit, sounds like the roster at a Nazi gang rape in Munich, 1933.

We should follow the Chinese model and nationalize. No more world police, just protect our shores and borders. We don't need military bases all over the world in case something bad happens, and we can bring our military home. If your country gets screwed up, tough shit - man up and fix it yourself 'cause we ain't got no time for dat. We'll pull manufacturing back domestically and charge steep tariffs on any imports so we can protect the domestic market from being flooded with foreign government subsidized products. The economy will explode with growth from revitalizing old steel mills and textile plants while also building new ones. Those plants need to be staffed so unemployment will drop to unprecedented levels. Screw the Saudis and Venezuelans, we have enough oil here to last for hundreds of years. :coffee:

I like the Chinese geopolitical model that's developed over the last 15 or so years. They're powerful, no one fucks with them and they don't feel the need to invade and terrorize sovereign nations, as we do, to secure oil. Yeah, they have a few boils on their ass, but nothing like the U.S.

NPR had a good segment on this editorial this morning. Pretty much said that it is standard fare from the Chinese media - heck, this editorial was only printed in English so it's intended audience was that outside of China (they may have mailed Ralph and Cappy this directly, althouth they could be sharing the same house now for all we know). Sure, there are people outside of America who would love to take over America's role as de facto global leader, but the fact remains that no one is even close to having the stability and credibility, even with the current political fight that has brewed over that last two weeks, that the US has as a place to invest money, especially large sums of it, and that no one is going to supplant us anytime soon. China simply can't back out the money they have invested in US treasuries without taking a huge loss as they do so, so despite editorials like this, and to quote "An Officer and a Gentleman", they "have nowhere else to go". Heck, NPR's piece even went further and commented on how the Chinese internet is full of people amazed that America can function as well as it can with it's government being so dysfunctional - they were amazed we weren't rioting or that law and order hadn't broken down.

I agree with that, but let's be honest, there are millions of people out there that don't get the humor and the sarcasm, they actually believe this stuff. We aren't an across-the-board smart nation, not in the least. To quote Otto von Bismark, and yes, that's someone who already didn't like America almost 150 years ago (so it's not just today that some people don't like us) "There is a Providence that protects idiots, drunkards, children and the United States of America." Not very endearing of us.
