At Tahoma High School in the nether suburbs of Seattle, it’s totally okay to display a gay-pride flag, but two juniors were suspended for three days for wearing Confederate flags at school.

Both are about pride, although one is also about rainbows, puppies, and unicorns.

Grizz - was going to read what you said but got too engrossed in the soccer game flying punch that is in your signature line. What is that from?

It looks like Australian rules football or rugby to me. That was probably a legal play.

Wonder if a Che shirt would be okay?

The aggressor used poor technique. He had his chest pointing towards the target the whole time. There was no rotation of the upper body and hips to generate maximum power. This is something you would see in a catfight outside of a Tampa bar when two drunk women fight over TJ.

I'm sure the coaches will work on that at the next film session. Bad technique can lead to injuries.

One is a symbol to expand rights. The other is a symbol of oppression.
Not really that difficult to understand the difference.

The Confederate Flag is not a symbol of oppression.
Victim, much?

At least according to the article... the students were wearing the Confederate flags in direct response to the students wearing the gay pride shirts.
Certainly more evidence that the Confederate flag is used as a symbol of hate... and not just "heritage"
An unnamed school district spokesman said that a sophomore had been exhibiting a gay-pride flag at Tahoma High for the last two weeks, reports local CBS affiliate KIRO. When the two juniors showed up on Tuesday in a common area wearing the Confederate flags as a political statement in response, they were suspended.

Did the students say they were wearing the flags because they
hated gays?
Or were they wearing the flags because they saw other people wearing flags in support of their fellow countrymen and figured they would show their support of their fellow countrymen?
Why are gays and other Liberals so intolerant?

Just going off what the article says.
The students were wearing Confederate flags...
as a political statement...
in response to people wearing gay pride t-shirts.
In your scenario... where they are wearing flags in "support of their fellow countrymen" (

)... would not be a political statement... in response to people wearing gay pride shirts.

Since when is the CSA still a country? Do you know what the definition of 'countrymen' is?

I know you like to show your ignorance and intolerance often on here, but I'm here to help:
2.man from country: a rural resident, especially a man raised in the country who is familiar with rural life
The South, from a Mid-Atlantic point of view, especially when talking about folks who love the Confederate flag, is rural...
country. I envisioned a couple of kids from the country, certainly not from an urban environment, flying that flag.
Anyway, more hate from the tolerant left.

Yes...the media. Written by the tolerant Liberals.
Love the statement that they would expect a Confederate flag in the parking lot but not on a t-shirt.
Your beliefs, not others, are now confined to the parking lot...but don't dare wear a t-shirt.
Tolerance.

You know damn well that "countrymen" isn't used to refer to people from the sticks. You're grasping.

Unless there is a prior written policy disallowing confederate flag t-shirts I see a problem here from a legal standpoint... that whole freedom of speech thingy you know?
Wonder if the ACLU will pressure the school district on this one...

The democrats of 1860 were anything but liberal.

Is it seriously better to just have some kneejerk reaction without any information?
