Hats off to the Fowlers of Atlanta....
Carol and Willie Fowler had a lavish wedding reception planned for their daughter, Tamara. Or, they did until the nuptials were called off earlier this month with a mere 40 days to spare.
Instead of letting the four-course meal planned for September 15 at an upscale Atlanta restaurant go to waste, the Fowlers called a local charity and asked if they could donate the food to a local charity.
At first, higher-ups at the charity, Hosea Feed the Hungry, didn't believe Mrs. Fowler's offer was legitimate. But after she explained the situation, plans proceeded apace, and on the appointed day, 200 of Atlanta's homeless and their families, including several children, gathered at the Villa Christina restaurant for a meal served with all the traditional flourishes.
"The passed hors d’oeuvre were very interesting because the children were wondering, 'could we take the whole tray, or do we just take one off of the tray?'" Elizabeth Omilami, the head of Hosea Feed the Hungry, told WBUR radio . "So this was an educational opportunity as well, because now they all know how to eat at a four-course meal and the etiquette involved in that."
The event, dubbed the Fowler Family Celebration of Love, was also attended by the Fowler's daughter, Tamara, whom her parents said was in good spirits.
"We’re very pleased that she’s handling it so well," Carol Fowler said. “She was also very delighted to see and know that others had an opportunity to enjoy something, rather than just allow it to go to waste."
The Fowlers plan to hold a similar event next year.

Donks being donks. Conks could never understand how to help their fellow man. None of them live by the tenets of Christ.

Well done, comrades!
Did I do that right, D1B?

Don't you profess to be a Christian? If God really exists, he's going to laugh in your smug face the day you finally croak.

Hey, we're a nation of "christian values". Except when it comes to the poor. They deserve what they get.

Jesus feed the poor, healed the sick, shared with everyone, kicked out the bankers. Yet try to find a "Christian" candidate that advocates those platforms - good luck

Permission to make three guesses based on this ^ post:
1) You're over weight
2) You're white
3) You're a pseudo Christian

No need to respond, I nailed it... (T-Man included obviously)

A little simplistic there Jon, no? You can't feed the poor if you don't have money. I guess we could go to a full agrarian society, but then who will build the houses?

but we can feed the poor, heal the sick. We have enough wealth to do so. Most "Christian" Candidates advocate the opposite - cut welfare, snap, healthcare but don't touch the War Machine or the Bankers

Expensive weddings are a colossal waste. But I've gotta agree with BB somewhat in that these dollars would have gone further had they not been spent on petit fours.

Jesus prefers charity given voluntarily to charity given with government guns pointed at you. Voluntary charity as in the kind studies show conks do more.

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit upon his glorious throne, 32 and all the nations will be assembled before him. And he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34 Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’ 40 And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’ 41 Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 A stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.’ 44 Then they will answer and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not minister to your needs?’ 45 He will answer them, ‘Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.’ 46 And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Most gay candidates believe in spending too much on clothes, lying about themselves and others, favoring their gay friends over more qualified people, using public dollars for their sexual proclivities, and playing victim while shouting about the evil bad guys.
In other words, just like the Conks.
Forget about others...Jon, what are YOU (not society) doing to help feed the poor and heal the sick? Or are you too busy flying to a softball tournament somewhere?

But you can buy more weapons if you don't have money.
If you don't want your tax dollars to help the poor, stop saying you want a country based on christian values, because you don't. - J. Carter
