The state has only one Republican member of Congress, Andy Harris.

"The entire state is controlled basically by three jurisdictions," Strzelczyk said. "That's not representative government. ... We don't think this government can be fixed."

The solution? Form your own state.

I guess that's easier than a voter registration drive.

Strzelczyk's group believes the people of Western Maryland are fed up with Democratic dominance and they want Garrett, Allegany, Washington, Frederick and Carroll counties to break away and form a new state, perhaps called West Maryland...

Eastern Shore Maryland is also rural and conservative and feels the same way. The West Maryland folks should team up with them and they'd have 80% of the state (geographically) potentially wanting to split from the liberal pocket in the middle.

This will obviously go nowhere, but it's fun to watch. The gerrymandering in Maryland is particularly obscene, as has been pointed out many times by Andy and 89.

Eastern Washington conks would love to do the same. There were also newspaper articles from my youth proposing the formation of the state of Washidmo.

There's a movement in NE Colorado, SW Nebraska and Western Kansas to secede and form their own state.

There's ANOTHER movement in Northern California and Soutern Oregon to secede and form THEIR own state....

The rural areas of liberal states are getting fed up with getting liberal politics being shoved down their throats.

I think those maps are old 93... it's actually far worse now. I'm pretty sure they have thown western MD in with much of MontCo to get that last seat away from Roscoe Bartlett. They (MD Dems) stole that one.
