Genius Obama forces Putin to act - possible breakthrough!

Obama told lawmakers Tuesday he has decided to put off a potential strike as he pursues a Russian-backed plan at the United Nations that would place Syria's chemical stockpile under international monitoring.

There is healthy skepticism at the White House about the plan, and administration officials have made clear to the Russians that this can't become a process of delay and avoidance.

But the proposal offers Obama a potential path away from a military confrontation that would allow him to claim Syria paid a price for a chemical attack that killed more than 1,400 people Aug. 21.

Nice work, Commander Obama! :thumb:

Our president is brilliant. How many times have Conks here bitched about other countries being lazy in responding to such things as Syria? The big upside is Russia (and Putin) doing something positive for once.

Jesus Christ. Jon, seriously?

How many died under LBJ or FDR? Approximately 58,000 men died in Vietnam. About 86% of those casualties were white men. What does this say? DEMOCRATS HATE WHITE PEOPLE! :twocents:

Roughly 6,000 soldiers have died in battle since 2003. More men and woman have died under Obama's Presidency than Bush. Bush started it? yes. Obama has continued it. A

Now now, Bill. The Russians haven't done anything yet. Furthermore, they didn't act positively until Sec. Kerry aid to hand them over (even if it was a gaffe.) :coffee:

I can see how this was played out. It wouldn't surprise me if, behind the scenes, Sec. Kerry's comment and Russia's interjection into the proposal were pre-arranged.

My comment should have said "were pre-arranged."

Is it desirable? Yes. Diplomacy trumps war. But, why wasn't this diplomatic avenue exhausted BEFORE we threatened with strikes? That isn't Presidential.
