A party is a party by any other name.
Ike was behind the times. Most farms are not run by mom and pop and the 8 children who are future voters.
Large corporations and machinery have replaced a lot of those voters, and will continue to do so in almost every area of employment as technology advances. We are getting closer, a generation or two, to the point where machines will be able to do most of the work of the regular workforce.
The big question is what will we do with the majority of the people after they've effectively been ousted permanently from the workforce? Suck out their will to protest while entertaining them with TV and fatty foods, give them a little stipend, let them feel as if they have some influence, but effectively box them out of the big wealth and the big decisions. As most kids say on a long road trip, "are we there yet?"
This was supposed to be the great uprising of the masses against the evils of the rich capitalists. Obama was going to hold Wall Street accountable, fight for the little guys, mend relations, and get us back to good old American values (both in our domestic and foreign policies). CHANGE.
Donk or Conk, very little is changing for good.

Ike: known for golf, heart attacks, Mamie and the Interstate highway system. And the Donks almost got him to run on their ticket. Fine general, though.Next.
