And I don't know if it's not worse than that. People in the United States...and probably in Western Civilization in general...have gone absolutely over the deep end with respect to dogs.
Sick, sick, sick culture. When you get emotionally attached to a dog you've got problems. Sorry. But it's true. I know that's saying an awful lot of people have problems but it is what it is.

People are pack animals, dogs are pack animals. It is a natural bond and a marriage made in heaven.

You were abused as a child and I'm honestly sorry about that John...

Dogs are living creatures that display affection and emotion. If you can't get emotionally attached to them you've got problems. Sorry. But it's true. I know that's saying only one person has problems but it is what it is.

Obviously I don't agree with JSO's stance on animals, but it does reflect badly when ~45% of a society would save a dog over a fellow human being.

That's a deceptive number that in reality fluctuates through a wide range, e.g., more like 90% would save a dog before a lawyer or a monsanto exec while no more than 10% would save a dog before Tina Turner.

I really dislike people. I have made the comment to my friends before that I would save my dog over about 80% of my coworkers.

I'd save a drowning dog before I'd save a drowning JSO. In fact, even if there wasn't a drowning dog, I'd be more than happy to hold JSO's head underwater.

You might say it now, but I'm skeptical that most people would react to save the dog in an emergency. For example, seeing a screaming and flailing person drowning will elicit a pretty strong response to save them.

I completely understand what you are saying. If it were an unknown person I would go for them. But, seriously, fuck my coworkers. I am bringing my dog home.

When you condone the abuse of animals, you have problems.
You're a sick, twisted man if you think caring for an animal is a "problem."

You know, the Nazis thought they were better than their victims. Maybe you're a Nazi.

Do you think it's appropriate to abuse cats (Jews?) Animals didn't choose to be born an animal any more than you chose to be born a human. We're are all animals.
