Former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., once a rising Democratic star whose political fortunes imploded over the use of campaign finances to support lavish personal spending, was sentenced to 30 months in prison on Wednesday.
"I misled the American people," Jackson, 48, said before U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson imposed the term, which also included an order for restitution and community service.
The ex-Illinois lawmaker's wife, Sandi, received a 12-month sentence for her role in her husband's misuse of roughly $750,000 in campaign funds over several years.

His race-hustling, shake down artist old man should be in jail for extortion. Ever wonder how he got that Anheuser-Busch distributorship?

Justice.
Maybe Obama can shorten his vacation by 1 day and send $750,000 to JJ Jr. to pay his restitution bill.

What a greedy dumbshit. It's not as if you can't have a lavish lifestyle with all the legal perks offered while in office and the potential for reaping the rewards in the private sector after your term.

I have no doubt this happens all the time on both sides of the aisle. He was just too stupid to get caught.
We're all fucked.

What he did should make anyone sick, Conk or Donk. Refreshing to see someone own up to it and accept his punishment.

I'm not a fan of Bush or Obama but I really don't give a shit about their vacations. These men have such a stressful job. Let them get out of Washington. They are never off duty so what does it matter? They pay a portion of Air Force 1 and many of their expenses (aside from security) so really what's it matter. I don't want a President being on the edge, with his finger on the Nuclear Button.

I agree, Mark, and so do most of our Conk friends here. Still, if it ain't a Conk in office, it's wild and profligate fleecing of the public.......

Exactly. I'm much more pissed about Congress' lengthy "recesses."

full support of his constituents.

The dog looks better than Moochelle, smells better than Moochelle, and is more pleasant to hear from than Moochelle.

A fraction of 1% is a "portion" to you?
Would be like you staying in 5 bedroom oceanfront in Kiawah Island for a summer week, someone else paying for it, handing them a $20, and saying you paid for a "portion" of it..
