Can the President REALLY be this stupid?!?

Post by SuperHornet »

I can't believe this. Libtards talk smack about Sarah Palin, but she's never stepped in it like THIS. Conservatives talk smack about Joe Biden, and for good reason, but HE's never been this stupid, either, to the best of my knowledge.

In making what appears to be off-the-cuff remarks at a joint presser with the President of Vietnam, President Obama said that Commie dictator Ho Chi Mihn was inspired by Thomas Jefferson and the rest of the US Founding Fathers.

What a moron. If he were even CONSIDERING having Presidential term limits repealed so he could run again, all the GOP would have to do is put this on permanent repeat and he'd be dead in the water. :dunce:

And before you blast me for using Fox News, please note that even NBC News and ABC News posted this, buried though it was at the end of a linked AP article (same AP article for both lazy "news" organizations), while CBS News and CNN ignored it.

Help me out here:
So you know for a fact that Ho Chi Mihn was NOT influenced by Jefferson..?
Wasn't Ho Chi Mihn educated in France..?

So what is the exact issue you're having..?

Chizzy:

Someone influenced by Jefferson (not to mention the REST of the Founding Fathers) would hardly be a Commie dictator, much less commit the atrocities Ho Chi Minh did. Even an ignoramus can see that.

 Surely you can't be as stupid as your play on this site

Yes,
People can be influenced by all kinds of things (including Jefferson) and still be a neurotic psychopath
Crazy old nut-ball Hugo Chavez was extremely well read and was influenced by all kinds of awesome people
How that influence plays-out or manifests itself is not always plainly obvious from the outside

Ho Chi Minh was very much influenced by Thomas Jefferson. The first things he said when declaring North Vietnam's secession was:
Ho Chi Minh wrote:All men are created equal; they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights; among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

This immortal statement was made in the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America in 1776. In a broader sense, this means: All the peoples on the earth are equal from birth, all the peoples have a right to live, to be happy and free...
But of course, Fox News left that out in their article.

You have to remember that the Declaration of Independence is exactly that: a declaration of independence. It is not a document that outlines the formation of any type of government, just that the people have the will to rule themselves. In North Vietnam's case, the people genuinely believed communism was the perfect form of government and that it was the way they wanted their society governed. The failures of their communist state have nothing to do with Thomas Jefferson's influence, but the North Vietnamese's will (or at least Ho Chi Minh's) for independence sure did. That's the key difference here that you don't seem to understand.

Ho Chi Minh did borrow from Jefferson in the Vietnamese Declaration of Independence. He then went on to murder hundreds of thousands of his own countrymen in order to consolidate power for the Viet Minh. So in that respect, he borrowed from Abraham Lincoln. sarc\

Hot Air has a good commentary on the flap here:

http://hotair.com/archives/2013/07/26/o ... jefferson/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

At the end of the day, it doesn't make any difference. Vietnam isn't going to bend on human rights, and few Americans understand how you build face with them in the first place. Praising Bac Ho isn't it, murderous communist dictator or not.

That inaccurate. The Viet Minh were not a majority in Vietnam. So "the people", implying a plurality of Vietnamese, did not think communism was the perfect form of government. If they did, then the Ho controlled Viet Minh would not have had to compel agreement through the purging of non-communist Vietnamese nationalists (who actually outnumbered the communists, but like other nationalist rivals of communist movements, were not as willing to throw in on the side of wholesale murder and reeducation as the communists were).
