Illinois became the last state to pass a concealed carry law...the veto-proof legislation passed both the House and Senate

"The gun measure was a hard-fought compromise between gun rights activists across the state and gun control advocates trying to keep a lid on crime in Chicago. It now goes to Gov. Pat Quinn, a Chicago Democrat, who has not indicated whether he will sign it.

An 89-28 vote by the Illinois House on Friday sealed the compromise worked out after the federal appeals court ordered in December that Illinois end its ban on concealed carry by June 9. Earlier in the day, the Senate OK'd the plan 45-12. Both margins are big enough to withstand a gubernatorial veto."

The law will prohibit Chicago from exempting itself from the law...finally the law abiding citizens can protect themselves...

Not necessarily. Most armed thugs are not particularly proficient, trained or are chemically impaired. Having a weapon gives you an option of either resisting or submitting, depending upon the circumstance. Being not armed limits your option to submitting.

Putting yourself in a position of having options is smart. Putting yourself in a position not to have options is dumb.

I am amazed at the number of videos I've seen (real video, not Pulp Fiction) where a thug fires numerous shots and hits nothing. The lack of any training or proficiency is very evident. Coolness of head and one well-aimed shot would disable them easily.
