This country is doomed

It's just a matter of time.

We just have a serious aversion to dealing with reality. And I'm talking about unambiguous realities. Not stuff like whether or not it's going to be the end of the world if we don't reduce greenhouse gas emissions. THAT we can get all excited about. But when it comes to the obvious reality the the overwhelming majority of illegal immigrants into the United States are of hispanic ethnicity...why...NO...we have to pretend otherwise. We can't make use of THAT information. We have to act like the odds that a randomly selected blue eyed blonde being an illegal immigrant aren't any different than the odds that someone who looks like they're from Mexico are.

Really? That's why we are all doomed? Not population growth, food, disease, war or energy?

With today's technology, there ways to get around ethnic profiling. If you go into a store, facial recognition software may know who you are before you can get to the cash register. I'm sure traffic cams could be programmed the same way. ID the person before you interview them. We should welcome all the people that want to make America their home.

Welcome people that want to come here legally.

Heck, why not let everyone come here and live off the taxpayers....

Throw a few factory owners in jail and the problem will disappear overnight. If nobody hires them they won't come. :coffee:

But then they'd have to pay people more, throw a few sheckles toward payroll taxes... :ohno:

So why not let in millions more people to live off of you and me. :tothehand:

While we're at it, make it mandatory that they all get paid $50/hr since our gov knows how to run a successful business.

Top it off with giving them free health care but paying for it by taxing working people more.

How about free subsidized housing, free child care, free rent, free fuel/heating assistance, free college education....he**, just sit at home and collect taxpayer money....don't worry about anything. Have a huge marketing blitz in Asia, Africa, S America, Europe calling for tens of millions of more people to come to America. But I'm sure you and your bleeding heart brothers will find a way to pay for it.....

I'm actually a bit of an isolationist. :tothehand:

Houndy is right. We have an illegal employer problem that contributes to wage suppression. If wages go up so does demand...for things like high quality honey.

As for healthcare...Obama screwed the pooch on that one too. But United Healthcare and Pfizer aren't complaining.

Tell me exactly where there is 'wage suppression?' Should the minimum wage be $20 or $30 / hour?

LOL....What do you think is 'high quality honey?' It wouldn't matter what wages were or are, American honey producers do not even produce 1/2 of the demand.

You don't read so well. I'm for going after the cause of the problem, not the symptom.

You peckerwoods are all alike. You want to blame the people who accept illegal employment offers and not the people who make illegal employment offers. Fvcking stupid conk fvcks. :ohno:

Paying workers under the table alone suppresses wages because the employer is not contributing their share of payroll tax liabilities. :dunce: Not to mention if they are paying less than minimum wage. :coffee:

If losing our identity as a primarily European nation is doomed, then maybe. Long before we get to 50% "other" on employment applications the incentives to immigrating to the US will be long gone. Even at 2-1 in terms of number of children per family, the Hispanic population will take about 60 years to reach the 50% of the population level, give or take. Also, by that time our economy is going to be in the tank and therefore the agrarian tendency to pop out 6 kids will be diminished, even for the Mecicans and Salvadorans.

We'll be economically underwater (tech industries will be gone- having followed heavy industries) long before this happens. We might all be sneaking across the Brazilian border with English/Portuguese speaking coyotes by that time.

Give me a frickin break. Not every single 'illegal' that comes over here is working for some company that wants cheap labor. Let's see, maybe there are extended family that comes with some of these people.

...."ain't no jobs"....what kind of moronic statement is that? There will always be some kind of job opportunity for people looking for jobs. These 'illegals' do things that lazy ass Americans do not want to do and if they were not here then those lazy butts would have a job...but I guess they are all holding out for management positions....right?

Ya, there are probably some businesses that do hire 'illegals' but some on here want everyone else to believe that they are the only reason. I'm not 'defending' any company hiring people that should not be here. But there are a lot of small businesses that cannot find workers esp in the agricultural industry. I personally do not know of any company that hires illegals. But I can only comment on beekeepers, custom combiners and farmer/ranchers the industry I am associated with. Before you want to paint a broad brush with all business come walk in my shoes for a day and see what it is like before making such a broad comment. You want to work 70-80 hrs / week come on over here to MN, I have a job for ya.

You're damn right I am a business owner. I bring H2A workers to help me in my business because lazy-ass Americans do not want to due my kind of work. But I do it the right/legal way thru the inept US gov with all of its red tape. Small business is what helps keep this economy going.

Good on you for doing it the right way; people like you who do so aren't the problem. But I believe HD and kalm are correct in that not as many of them would come across illegally if they didn't know they could find under-the-table work as easily as they can. :twocents:
