He blamed “politics” for the failure of the legislation and, while standing alongside Gabby Giffords and tearful Newtown families, dismissed charges that he had used people as props for “emotional blackmail.”

It looks like BHO has picked the right issue to spend his political capital this year

He says a lot that he is focused like a laser on the economy

I'm starting to smell some lame duck

Somewhat related, but these recent ads by "Moms Demand Action" are drawing a bit of criticism right now. In each one, only the white kid is holding a gun while a minority is holding the other item:

Maybe it's coincidental, but seems strange nonetheless.

Anyways, yesterday's was simply an example of checks and balances working. Nothing more. Nothing less.

How is a book, a ball and egg supposed to protect a person? I find that statement flawed.

Can we work on something about the mental health issues in America?

The actual item isn't the protection. The message is that they've been deemed threats and banning them is in order to protect the child. The sentence at the bottom of each ad explains it.

Still, they're really dumb ads. And somewhat racist.

I felt the first was absurd so I never read the entire ad. :coffee:

It's also absurd 'cause the sentence in the ad says that these things have been banned in America which is completely false. Pretty sure I can go and buy a dodgeball right now. And while clearly they meant that these things have been banned in schools, banning something in school =/= banning something in America.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...we are learning to FOCUS our thinking on a thin sliver of information. Taking in the big picture can be dangerous to your health.

Five donks, including their majority leader, voted against the bill. So much for Obama/Feinstein building consensus among their caucus. I thought this was a slam-dunk issue for donks. Guess not. Heck, four conks voted for the bill, and it still didn't pass.

Suck it Feinstein! :thumb:

They're very racist, but it's OK to discriminate against white people in this country.

Also, there are no assault weapons in any of the three ads. Those are all semi-autos.

In addition, someone is encouraging very poor weapons handling by allowing the second two children to handle a sporting rifle with their fingers on the trigger. Bad moms. :ohno:

Lastly, I hope that's an elaborate set and not gun free school zones where they took those pics.

This aint discrimination. However, I notice all of the white kids had guns. Being pulled over at 3am because you are black is discrimination. This is not it. They sould have given then the back ground check. Now they are going for the background checks and the guns. The GOP blew this one and it will come back to hurt them in the next election. WATCH!!!

10 Democrats blew it as well, but that doesn't fit in with your agenda.

Sure, and if they showed all the black boys holding crack viles and guns and the black girls holding babies and their EBT cards, it wouldn't be discrimination either. After all, promoting such images means nothing.

I agree that the ads are over the top but the one side of each statement isn't technically false. Those items have been banned in America not necessarily in all of America. There is a city, county, library or school district somewhere in America that has banned the book, dodge ball and that egg. If you were to follow that line of logic than you should leave it up to local governments to decide what to do about certain types of weapons and the federal government should stay out of it.
