I have never understood how poor white trash can trash poor trash from other races and yet somehow still feel superior. Do they not realize that more Democrat policies help THEM instead of the rich folks they still bitch about.

They claim rights, yet shun responsibilities. I will never understand it.

It's time they come out and admit they hate our President simply because of his skin color.

Um...no. That's the Left redefinition of any vote against Obama as racist, regardless of who receives the vote. Many of these conservatives have voted for Alan Keyes in the past and were considering Herman Cain this time around. Only a Democrat can turn that into "racism."

The pollsters estimated 19% of Tea Party folks made less than $30,000 per year vs. 25% of the general population. They also estimated 55% of Tea Party people made more than $50,000 per year vs. 50% of the population. The poll margin of error is +/- 4 percentage points so once you take that into account you'd conclude that income wise their distribution is close to that of the general population but a little "higher." Proportionately less "poor." And of course the overwhelming majority of them are not "poor."

They're not all that far off from the proportions of the general population race wise either. Somewhat more White but not that much. There's a result on that at http://www.gallup.com/poll/127181/tea-p ... phics.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; showing pollsters estimated that 79% of Tea Party people are non Hispanic White vs. 75% of the general population.

Go back to the first poll and you'll see that the proportion of Tea Party people describing themselves as "conservative" is a lot higher than that of the general population. But the percentage of them describing themselves as "moderate" is about the same as that of the general population.

It's just not a "poor white trash" movement, in case you really seriously believed that.

Well, I don't know exactly what "middle class white trash" means. The population of tea party's is proportionately slightly "whiter" than the general population but not by much. And it's slightly better off financially than the general population but not by much.

You know, if you want to find a group of people who are "off" in terms of proportions of the general population you should take a look at the people who vote Democrat in national elections. They are significantly more "poor," significantly less "white," significantly more "minority" than the general population. Way more "off" in terms of expressing the demographic characteristics of the general population than the Tea Party members are.

Good point and I'm guessing Karl Rove's stock as tactician has taken a serious hit. But the money they spend on the state level is probably just as important. So you lose some battles, but given the jump in their wealth over the past decade, I'd say they're still winning the war. They play the game about as good as anyone.

Cat finally gets it righ. The Tea Party only came around because a black liberal was elected. Where were they when Bush was ruining the country? How can you go to war twice and not raise taxes? That's fiscially irresponsible.

Go figure...3/4 are White people. The two rallys I attended out of intrique were nothing more than anti-Democrat and anti-Obama rallies.
